Seagate 7200 upgrade dsr6000
I am about to replace the single A in my DSR6000 with a Seagate Barracuda IV 80GB EIDE UltraATA/100 7200 rpm hard drive, model no. ST380021A as the new single A. Will NOT be adding a B. Have tools CD from 9tee. Have CD-RW on Secondary IDE connection
1. I am a Mac guy forced to use my wife's PC for the transplant.
2. Any tips, gotchas before I begin??
3. Can't I use JUST the Primary ide connection:
a. PC's C drive is primary Master, mount TiVo A as Primary slave; make image to Primary Master;
b. Take out the old TiVo A; insert new A(Seagate) as Primary Slave; bring in image from Master and expand.
Will this work? Again tips gladly accepted.
Thanx,
Kevin

As long as you use an MFS Tools 2.0 boot disk you can connect the drives however you like. Other TiVo boot disks require you to put the FAT drive on primary master and do not allow you to connect a TiVo drive as primary master - hence the warning to follow the plan exactly. Obviously you'll need to alter /dev/hdc to /dev/hdb etc.
Just follow New Hinsdale an you'll be fine. Are you trying to save your recordings?

Not trying to save recordings..just season passes/manual records.

OK, no special considerations there, then. Just do a backup and restore it to the new drive. The wife's PC isn't running NT/2k/XP, is it?
