Perhaps this is a general Linux problem, but I'm having trouble using the upgrade CD/floppy. I have an Epox 4g4a+ motherboard (Intel 845G chipset) which I believe to be the problem as I searched around the web a bit and found that some linux versions are not compatible with the 845 series chipset yet. The problem is that my compueter freezes completely when the screen reads "Booting the kernel"

Does anyone out there know a possible workaround for me, or do I need to find another computer to complete my upgrade? Thanks.

You can run MFS Tools 2.0 from any version of Linux that will boot on your PC - you might like to try Tom's Root and Boot Disk, for example. All the older tools depend on using a proper TiVo boot disk, but MFS Tools 2.0 is more flexible.
