HELP!!

ok ... not to panic , yet .. but here's what I did...

I backed up my drive, (backup backup backup .. :) )

I restored a Drive image to a newer drive.
Old drive Image was 14 hours.. New 20 gig Quantum Fireball

Booted Tivo and all was well, BUT it believed that it was a 14 hour unit rather than a 20 hour unit.

No worries, I figured that I could bless the drive
and dishes would be done..

Well I ran the MAD utility and answered the questions correctly... and 1
hour later it was still blinking.... waiting... waiting... .. there was no
drive activity whatsoever...

I rebooted ..

Now even FDISK /dev/hdc does not work!!!!

It seems to be looking to load the partition information of some sort that
no longer exists. It seems that the tivomad utility has removed the basic
partition information or something from the drive!!

And If I try and Re-Run the Bless program, it no longer recognizes the
drive..

Anyone have a clue as to how I can get the Drive back so that I can restore
onto it?

Or do I need to buy a new one?
(My wife may not let me buy one soon, so even a low level format would be prefereable...)

Whelp!!!

Sounds like a byteswapping issue to me - nothing to be concerned about.

TBH, the easiest way out is to restore your backup again. This time use MFS Tools 2.0 and do:

mkdir /mnt/dos
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/dos

mfsrestore -s 127 -xpi /mnt/dos /dev/hdc
umount /mnt/dos

as described in New Hinsdale (new drive on secondary master).
