Any way to force a guide update on DirecTiVo w/out phone or ethernet connection?

My DirecTiVo modem was fried recently, and until I get it fixed (or add a Turbonet card), I don't have any updated guide data. My understanding is that the guide data is pulled from the satellite stream, not the phone line. If this is true, is there anything I can do to force a guide update until I repair the unit?
Thanks.

You can setup PPP over serial, and that will allow you to authorize the acount through a PPP server out to an internet connection. This can be a tedious and error-prone setup though, and would be a lot of work for a temporary solution, It can be done cheaply though.
My advice is to get a TurboNet ASAP, that will take care of the problem.

I've solved the problem of my other post...
MY SAT-T60 (DTivo) would boot fine, but would hang at "Last Step: Acquiring satellite info 100%". In my case, it also appears that the modem was fried at the same time...
Now, my modem's still fried, but I got everything to work by finally going to the system reset menu and selecting clear all guide data and to do list. (It took about 3 hours instead of the suggested one hour)
It's a pain having to redo your wish lists and season passes, but I got my DTiVo up and running and it's reaquired all the guide data.
Give it a whirl. You should get new data.
I'm off to try to get my tivonet working again (put it on the shelf a while back). DSL should be installed in my new house TUES. I hope I can find some clear instructions on how to get it to "dialup".
