Hey, doing a search for "premiere" shows on the wishlist (directivo only), found that the WB is airing Ultraman Tiga, a 2002 version of Ultraman!

(In case you didn't know it, in Japan they have been airing Ultraman...his brothers, sisters, entire family lineup continually since the original 1960s show!)

Check your WB station, only found it on the local one here!

8:30 am in Tampa area....now I've got something to watch besides my collection of original eps on VHS!

My "Ultraman" Wishlist picked this up a few weeks ago and I've been patiently waiting for it. I watched the pilot ep today.

Yeh, unfortunately the translation from the Japanese version was awful! (I took 4 years of Japanese language as my foreign language at Florida State.) I've seen the Japanese version, and the guys who decided on the new script wanted a more "power rangers" feel no doubt.

Example: (summarized but very close to the pilot):

"Hey look at that monster!"

"Wow! that looks like your mother-in-law!"

"No, my mother-in-law's nose is bigger!"

Bad...real, bad....

On the plus side, I like Ultraman Tiga's three color power scheme. He starts with a balance of strength and speed, then if he needs strength during battle, he changes to all red in color. (vs. red & blue). This makes him slower, but much stronger. If he needs speed, he looks all blue, which changes him to VERY fast, but not as strong.

One more negative-- I miss the BETA CAPSULE! The call it "the torch" now, and it doesn't look as cool as the 1960's version. (Always wanted one of those).

Just as a note of interest....there is a Ultraman Amusement park in Japan, which tells you how popular it is over there. I would LOVE for a really big budget U.S. studio to make a GOOD Ultraman in English, but I dont think it will ever happen.
