Soprano's Dinner Plans?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Traditionally, we have Ziti while watching each new season premiere of The Sopranos. Actually, not Ziti, but, in the parlance of the show, we have "F*ckin' Ziti".
So, tomorrow nights menu:
Cesar Salad
F*ckin' Ziti (with hot Italian sausage)
Fresh Garlic Bread
Anyone else have special plans?
(Please don't move to the TV Talk Ghetto - this ain't about TV, it's about Food)

The Sopranos and Tivo together are the one thing that makes me want to subscribe to HBO.
I had HBO years ago and found it useless, but I can see together with Tivo it would be pretty nice.

sadly, I do not have HBO. But I have been renting the DVDs, trying to catch up. I am in the middle of Season 2, volume 3. I'll finish that tonight, then I'll have 3 espisodes left to finish Season 2. After that, I'll rent Season 3. A co-worker will be dumping TiVo'ed season 4 Soprano epsiodes to tape for me.
Edit: oh yeah.. this thread is about food.. Umm.. Maybe I'll make some pasta tomorrow night.

I only got HBO this summer, so have missed the Sopranos. I'm recording it though - hope it's not confusing. I caught up with Six Feet Under right away.
As for Food and TV: our big deal is "Survivor Night."
I unabashedly love Survivor, and in the dark ages, before TiVo, we'd eat dinner in front of the TV during Survivor. (It's on here at 7:00 p.m.). Our family typically does not eat dinner and watch TV, but I made an exception in order to follow the machinations of Richard and Susan. I served appropriate food - island food. Coconut shrimp, skewered pineapple and chicken, etc.
Even after we got TiVo, (2nd Survivor go-round) we made it a habit to eat and watch the show, because it's water cooler talk the next day. I could have served dinner and then watched the show, but it's more fun to do it this way. I still base my dinner choices on the country the show is filmed at. Australia was lamb, australian wine, stuff like that.
Thailand should be REALLY fun. :)

The first three seasons are on DVD. Visit your local video rental outlet. Lots of good stuff to watch.

I know, I should have done it long ago. I asked my husband if he was up for watching the entire first season this weekend, and his answer?
No. :(
Maybe catching up on the sopranos should be my new hobby. ;)

Heck, only 13 hours per season. Let's see, if you watch the Sopranos on HBO West at 9:00 PM PDT, you could have watched all 39 previous hours if you had started at 6:00 AM Saturday.
Oops, season 3 isn't quite out yet... oh well...

Did anybody catch the preview of The Sopranos on their TiVo? I haven't seen it as yet, is it any good?
-The Simpsons :) :D   :p

Well, I might be too late to see the Sopranos season, but Ed, you did save me some time on my wishlist making.
I'll just cut and paste yours to mine. :)

The beauty of TiVo is that you can postpone the premeir to a date that works for you. It's TV your way.

Ann, the Sopranos is definitely worth your time to catch up. It's rich like a novel, you will need to know the history of the characters to really appreciate the events in the series. The great part is you get to see all the episodes on DVD and don't have to wait a week between shows.

Had to do some research to learn what shape pasta ziti is. Looks like ziti could be used in almost any recipe that calls for pasta tubes.
Is there a special ingredient that makes it "F*ckin' Ziti". ;)
Not having any ziti on hand, we're considering "F*ckin' Lasagna". :)

The lasagna is in the oven, wine is chilling, and taramisu (sp?) is made. Just have to get out the red-checkered tablecloth and add some candles. Just wish I had some old Matuse (again sp?) wine bottles to put the candles in.

And people wonder why Hollywood is so upset about the DVR.

I'm trying to watch my weight, so I had some mozzarella cheese with olives during Sopranos last night. BTW, it's the only show that I watch almost live, delayed by only 10-15 minutes. If I'm home, that is.
At a certain point, I almost craved for scrambled eggs, no oil, with tomato slices. :)

What's wrong with that?? How would it be different if he recorded it to tape and gave it to me??

HD stuff is all I watch "live" while TiVoing for review later. But, I still find myself grabbing for the remote for that "quick review" of a line.
BTW, the 16:9 HD with 5.1 was very good.

I don't think it's different at all... it's just as illegal to do it with a VCR though.

I'm pretty sure they hate VCRs too. The point is, is that taping a show is supposed to be for personal use only, not to send it around to your buddies for them to watch.

well, I am renting the DVDs for Seasons 1-3 from Blockbuster. I'm not aying $10 per month for 13 epsiodes of Sopranos.

I'm not criticizing you for doing it. I've done it too once before (well, not for a premium channel), just pointing out why Hollywood is getting so upset.
