Search By Title DOES NOT work!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I upgraded several months ago with MFS Tools 2.0 and I now have two 120GB hard drives. I have had no issues except for the below which began a few weeks ago:

Every time I want to "Search By Title", no programs appear on the list. Sometimes if restart the recorder or force a Daily Call, the list will appear. However, this is really getting annoying and I am not sure what to do. This is also affecting the creation of "Wishlists". Its as if the program guide data just disappears.

I HAVE NOT attempted to repeat Guided Setup. Should I try this? I just don't want to loose any settings or shows (although I believe this will not occur).

Any clues?

Check your swap using the backdoors as detailed in the Fixes thread (look for Cpen's post on the first page).

You indexer isn't running - all the secondary guide data (ie, everything beyond the listings themselves) is produced by the indexer.

I'm having the same problem... I've got two 120GB too.

I would like to know how you resolve this problem.

He didn't come back to say if he's fixed or identified the problem.

Did you check your swap as I suggested?

Guys,

Sorry. I was not ableto try it until earlier today. It was defenitely the swap file issue.

Using the MFs tools fix thread, I used the following on the drives:

Option 3. Use copy of mkswap on tools CD

Boot a TiVo boot CD (but not the MFS Tools 2.0 CD) and do

/sbin/mkswap -v0 /dev/hdc8

This worked like a charm. I did check the kernel logs of the Tivo using backdoor codes to make sure it was a swap file issue to begin with as mentioned in the thread.

Robert S: I haven't had an opportunity to spend some good quality time with my TiVo yet... I will probably get around to it within a weeks time. I will be sure to post my finding. However, I would wager on the fact that I am having the same problems as rblancojr. Wish me luck! :D
