Well, Regis and Kelly shouldn't give up their day jobs. I like their morning show, but tonight's primtetime special was lousy. Way too scripted and it seemed like they were trying to hard. Plus it seemed to be a big commercial for ABC shows. Also, what was the deal with the sound? It was horrible!

Which ABC station do you get? WJLA was awful last night all through primetime. :(

WVEC. The only other thing I watched on ABC last night was Bonnie Hunt and I didn't notice any issues with that show, at least as far as sound goes.... :D

Seriously, though, what is this attraction that people have for these two? I don't watch much TV, and I don't do any talk shows, but it seems like every magazine (especially the Enquirer types) are doing a story on one or both of these guys.

I TiVo their show every morning. I watch the two of them do their commentary and then delete the rest of the show if there is no one I want to see on it.

The audio on their primetime show stunk. Absolutely horrible. Glad it wasn't my TiVo's fault.

Beyond that, I don't think it was scripted much - it was just horribly edited. You can see where they would cut out a question from an interview here, and cut out some dialog between Regis and Kelly there. It was a mess.

I think if they did it live, like the do in the morning, it would have been MUCH better.

FYI - As far as I know, the purpose of the show was to advertise the new shows for the season and ramp up the hype for last year's smash hit Alias. It was ABCs way of doing what NBC did with the girl from Crossing Jordan and their new fall schedule.

Good lord! Don't lump them in with Rosie for gods sake! I started watching Regis and Kathie Lee in college in 1988 and have watched ever since when I was around a TV at that time of morning, which wasn't often during the 90's. However, TiVo picks up the show sometimes and I really like the first segment. Kathie Lee got rather tired after awhile, but Kelly Rippa has breathed new life into the show. :)

BTW, I agree with Agent86, the edited was pretty bad. Don't normally see that on the morning show since it's usually live!
