The documentary made by Christopher Reeve's son is airing tonight at 10PM ET on ABC. It is apparently a "day in the life of Chris Reeve". It will also talk about the recent news about his progress & treatment. Looks promising...

I'm all for research and curing spinal cord injuries and all, but am I the only one who gets put off by Reeves "me me me" packaging of his message? Help ME, fund research to cure MY injury, stem cell research will help ME walk again, blah blah. Sure, anything found that helps him will help others (eventually, when they can afford it) but the guy just comes across as a self centered whiner.

He has a forum, he's using it -- to his benefit and for others.

I wonder how many people would have the courage to let themselves be put through hell on camera and expose their lives like he has, even if the motivation is "selfish".

Think about it: the last time you had the flu, did you want people dropping by all the time, following you around with a camera, asking you the same questions you've been asked a million times before ("So, what's it like being sick?"), showing millions of people what you look like with a runny nose and red eyes?

Whiner? Nah. But one person's adovacte is another person's "whiner" I suppose.
