HD Upgrade Question

I have a hughes DirecTivo with a crashed hard drive. I found a good deal on a Maxtor 7200 RPM 40GB drive about 2 months ago (about $30 after rebates) and just last week got the deal at Best Buy for a WD 7200 RPM 120GB drive ($29 after rebates). My question is this...
I have heard that 7200 RPM drives run hotter than 5400 RPM drives... This being the case is there any danger with my putting both of these 7200 RPM drives in my unit? Should I only put the 120GB drive? Any guidance is greatly appreciated....

How did you manage the $29 price?

Temperature is oft debated here. What's an acceptable range, what's the danger at the top of that range, what are the causes of running in the higher ranges.
My two DTiVos run approximately the same temp. One is stock, one has a 7200 80GB 2nd drive.
The basic facts are, if you add a 2nd drive, it should run warmer. Will it run so much warmer you'll have a problem, and what that problem might be, speculation.
Use some of the tips here, raise the box, don't keep it in an enclosed cabinet. Figure out how much space you really need or just want.
Extreem solution would be to add an additional fan, internal or external, along with additional ventilation.

I would definitely start with just the one and see how the temperature goes. You might also want to put the other drive in with just the power connected. Once you 'marry' the drives with MFS Tools it's quite fiddly to go back to a lone A drive if it runs too hot with the two drives.
You might also want to look at some of the threads on increasing cooling. Start by putting a flow separator underneath and running the fan at 12v before moving on to more radical measures.
Do your upgrade with MFS Tools 2.0 as described in New Hinsdale - the docs with MFS Tools 2.0 contain some errors.
