At 99 quid, no subscription, digital will become a rather popular christmas present and with 20 odd channels a tivo is a must.
I'd sell it as a £350 - £400 quid box all in myself but I'm sure they have their reasons.

Good news for sure, but I wish they'd keep BBC Choice :(

This is going to cause more problems than just the benefits of additional choice. IDTV's are increasing in popularity, yet Tivo doesn't even begin to address these (it cannot, for obvious reasons - single tuner etc). Then there is the rash of new set-top boxes which may (or more likely) may not be compatible with Tivo's library of IRDA codes... the real fun is just about to begin...

There have been plenty of new boxes already - an TiVo seems to be keeping up - just. The IDTV thing is a problem for ALL recording devices.

The change of BBC Choice to BBC 3 is not related to the Freeview launch.
BBC planned to change it a while back (Sep 2001) but the proposals were turned down by Tessa Jowel.

It's only recently that the approval was given and hence co-incided with the Freeview launch

I've solved that one already! I had bought one DTT box, and connected it to both TV and TiVo. I got fed up with clashing with the TiVo when I wanted to watch live, so bought a second DTT box. Now TiVo has one all to itself!
