"New" DWL-650 doesn't work with Airnet?

First off, absolutely great site for Tivo upgrade info.......
Recently I have had great success with both the WPC11 and the Proxim RangeLAN-DS working with Airnet on my DSR6000. I wanted to get a D-Link card because the only thing that has been an issue is connectivity with the cover on and I thought I would do an external antenna based on the mod you can do to the DWL-650.
Ordered yesterday from PC Connection a "DWL-650". What arrived today looks entirely different than the pictures from the antenna mod instructions I was planning to follow. Even though the box makes no reference, the card itself is labeled as a DWL-650K1
Looking on the D-Link site their appears to be now (3) versions of the DWL-650 card:
DWL-650 - version that everybody knows (hackable antenna)
DWL-650H - looks the same, but uses different drivers
DWL-650K1 - new rectangular antenna that doesn't look like it will come apart for the mod...also requires new different drivers.
See attached photo or the D-Link web site.....
This doesn't even include the new "AirPlus" models which supposedly double the 11mps throughput of 802.11b.
Most important....I disconnected the WPC11 from the Airnet and plugged this new card in and it DID NOT work. I switch between the Proxim and the Linksys cards alot (for testing distance) with no problems at all. So my question is simple:
Anybody know if this "new" card (DWL-650K1) still uses the Prism2 chipset so that the current Airnet drivers will work? I was hopeful this new antenna might just have the power to get to my WAP with the DSR6000 cover on...but if it doesn't work with Airnet then its going back in favor of an "old" DWL-650....
Any thoughts are appreciated....

Hi,
Looking at the photo it looks like a CardBus card, not a PCMCIA card.
If that is the case then it will not work in a Tivo as the Tivo does not support PCI.

Nick,
Ahhh....you are right. It is Cardbus. I didn't know about the difference on the Tivo.
Wow....I just got off the phone with D-Link Tech Support. What agony. They have discontinued their PCMCIA card in favor of Cardbus and the new antenna. Boy, no model number changes which makes the vendors not know the products are different.
Even the pictures on the web site I bought it show the old model. Oh well, I'll return it and find an old D-Link card and hopefully get "cover on" connectivity....
Thanks for the quick response,

No. I called the D-Link support line and the new version of the DWL-650 called AirPlus is NOT the prism2 chipset. They told me that they were going to be releasing that info soon, as its proprietary.
