Hi Guys,
TiVo is kicking off our Champions for Charity promotion with Ronnie Lott and his charity, All Stars Helping Kids.
You can learn all about the program and make a donation at:
www.tivo.com/champions
You can also bid on some one-of-a-kind autographed TiVo's that were just put up on eBay. Bid early and bid often. ;)
Cheers,
Pony

Very cool.
I'm not a fan of these particular athletes, but I like TiVo :)

Any more bidders? The clock is ticking... :)

I bet if TiVoShanan came to this thread and talked about it, she could sweet talk some people into bidding. I mean, its kind of a PR thing, right? Isn't that her area??

Don't know if I can trust tivopromotions.... he has a ZERO feedback rating! ;)

Wow closes tomorrow and these 60 hour TiVo systems with included lifetime sub are only going for $350-$450 so far. Might be a bargain instead of a premium!
What the heck, I am the winning bidder on one for a moment...

<bUMp!>
Two of the three units are still priced at below the $550 current retail value with less than one day to go.
If you're in the market for a new 60-hour TiVo, you could stand a chance of getting a discount while also doing something great for charity by bidding a fair price!
I'd think the Steve Young TiVo, in particular, would go for well over the retail price. Here's hoping that some collectors/fans step up to the plate, er, line of scrimmage.
[Edited to reflect that the Steve Young TiVo is now over the retail price threshold.]
[Edited to reflect a miscalculation of current retail value.]

bump.
Ok. They're 60 hour units with lifetime service included. Autographed by famous people. With certificates of authenticity. And you can get a write off on your taxes for a donation to charity.
Come on guys! Let's get those systems higher! :D:D:D
The auctions end soon.
You know you want to bid. It's a great cause. Do it! ;)

Make me proud. :)

[edited claim of tax deduction to be more generic]

Wow they're not even breaking retail value yet.
If I needed another TiVo I'd bid on one, but I think 4 is plenty for me.
Good luck!

Unless I'm very much mistaken you can only deduct the amount that you paid above the retail value.
Just don't want to see anyone in trouble with the Inland Revenue.
I'd put in a bid myself - but the Series 2 isn't hackable :( so I'll stick with my Series 1s.

Dan
perhaps having a athlete's signature on an unrelated piece of home electronics is bringing down the value ;)
at any rate sshhhhhh. there is no auction.

Ok, let me make a quick disclaimer. I am not a tax attorney. Nor do I play one on TV. I am not qualified to provide any tax advice to anyone, including myself.
I don't know how this would impact the value of your tax deduction, but I can share that TiVo has donated this equipment and the service to the charity. They in turn are auctioning it to you, so the full value of your winning bid goes to the charity.
The exact value of the tax deduction you can claim is between you and your tax attorney. :)
Bid bid bid...www.tivo.com/champions

Where's the autographed DTiVo Series II to bid on?
Posted by: Francesco
...Autographed by Tanya Memme??? Ooohhhhh.... ;)
Posted by: MighTiVo
Just over an hour to go and still below retail value.....
Posted by: MighTiVo
I can not believe it, less than 1 hour to go, two selling for $510, one for $600.
These include lifetime so after rebate these would cost $550 retail.
I guess the signatures are reducing the value........

Bah. Somebody in the market for a new TiVo, please bid what these are worth! You have about ten minutes to snag a good deal and help a charitable cause.

Ok someone has to take it away from me now. ;)
I suggest we make this a sticky and the list of TiVos up for Auction.

So when are they auctioning off a "TiVoPony" autographed Series II???
And while you're at it, how about an HNS HDVR2 for auction???
:D

What a bargain!
The Autographed 60 hour TiVo Series2 with Lifetime subs with free shipping closed yesterday as follows:
Steve Young $620.00
Dave Carr $563.78
Barry Zito, Mark Mulder & Tim Hudson $550.00
The next batch closes on the 17th

Waaaaaah.... I bid on all three of em, and didn't win any of em. :(
What bothers me is that two of them were won by "auction.c3"... sounds like a professional vacuum cleaner than buys up autographed stuff and resells it. :( Hope not!
Posted by: Breacagan
Actually, it looks like they will be upgraded and resold.

Awww, that's sweet. If we ever want to find out the absolute minimum we can get in an auction, that might be the way to do it. ;)

Well for all those that always cry "I want a Pony", this could be the next best thing...A TiVo signed by a Pony :)

to me a tivopony autographed would actually add value. then again, if he were to leave and suddenly pop up as spokement for a lesser pvr I might be so mad I'd turn the tivo into a frisbee.
A tivo autographed by some athletes just seems like it will be a weird conversation starter at any future party.

Unless you were watching the sport in which that athlete is playing....."Hey, see that Quarterback? He signed the TiVo we are watching".
Now what would be REALLY cool is if they recorded a personalized greeting by the athlete for the winner of the TiVo and transferred into the Now Playing. Could you imagine playing that for your friends and having the athlete call you by name and talk to you (or even about you) for a few minutes?
Posted by: Francesco
That would be almost as cool as "TiVoFriends"...

The person who bought the two autographed TiVos in Round 1 offered me one of them, since I was the 2nd highest bidder on all three. ;) So today I have the Dave Carr TiVo! Showed up Friday, and I got it all cabled and set up yesterday. Thanks TiVo!
