Using Sky+ and TiVo

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am having a Sky+ box installed on Tuesday and I already have a Tivo.
Can anyone tell me the best way to get the two to work together and if there are any pitfalls in trying to use both.
I also have NTL cable - although a more basic package than the Sky world package - and wondered if I should conect the TiVo to cable.
Can anyone help or point me to a relevant thread?

Thanks
Colin

If your cable suplier has channels that sky don't, which you watch, then it might be just as well to let tivo use this, and let Sky+ do the sky stuff.

You will get confused trying to use Sky+ and have TiVo trying to use Sky+.

If TiVo is recording something on Sky, and you decide you watch a Sky+ recording - TiVo will record the playback that you are viewing.

I too would recommend switching TiVo to NTL.

I can see what you mean. I suspect most of my recording is on the five main channels, E4, ITV, BBC Choice or Sky, so that makes sense.
Can you tell me how I reset a Tivo set up for Sky so that it becomes an NTL box?

Thanks for the help

Run the guided setup again selecting the appropriate option.

Re-running the Guided Setup will not take too long from Sky to NTL- but if your NTL box is not a 4000 series, then you'll need to get a dongle for it to work.

Thanks. I've just phoned to order a new dongle.
Will I still keep Now Playing programmes if I rerun the Guided Setup?

Yes you do keep your recordings. You also run this option if you move, or change the source as you wish.

Thanks. I'll give it a go.
