I see Thomson are bringing out a suitable STB http://www.homecinemachoice.com/cgi...ews.php?id=2383
Based of course on the Grundig box as they now own that part of Grundig.
I just did a scan on my box and I now get 36 channels :)
Still no ITV :(
I also noted when the stb changes between some channels the TV picture 'glitches' badly. Is this because the box has to switch to the other signal format mode?
Automan.

It could be - I now find the some channels take about 2-3 seconds to lock.

Which boxes do you two use ?
RE: the lineup - I really like the mix of radio stations that came on board, especially World Service, jazzfm, and oneword.
Playing fantasy lineup If you could ditch *just* two channels for two others which would you choose ?
I'd lose Sky Sports News for Eurosport
And lose CNN for more Boomerang ( assuming Turner comes on-board )
I think this would make a better balance - at the moment the service is too news-heavy.

I guess these channels are reserved for CNN, TCM and Boomerang. The BBC keeps mentioning these as channels for Freeview, but as of today there is still no agreement with AOL/Time Warner to carry them. And there's some doubt over whether UK History will be allowed.
The Guardian's Emily Bell has this rather witty article is here:

No - Sky Sports News is superb - I have a low priority SP to record 1900 to 1930 every night for a round up of the day's big football news. Highlights from all the Premiership games, and loads of team news - a really excellent service.
To me Eurosport hardly ever shows any sport worth watching.
I agree though that there's too many news channels but I wouldn't drop CNN. There simply is no-one better at covering breaking world news. They are always there. We don't need three domestic news services though.
As someone who sits in front of SkyNews, News24, CNN and ITV news screens all day for my job, I'd say ITV news is by far the weakest of the three by most criteria.
News24 has really improved over the years although Sky News still seems the most human and seems to get most of the breaking domestic stories first. Sky's main weakness seems to be its obsession with carrying live news helicopter pictures from Fox.
So I’d drop itv news and maybe this new Ftn - which is supposed to be a watered-down mix of Trouble & Bravo. It seems there's no early chance of getting Sky One, UK Gold or E4 - but any of these would be much more appealing.

Sky Sports News is misnamed: it is really Sky Football News.

Just a word of warning. If anyone re-scans / stores channels on their DTT IDTVs or STBs they will get the channels on the new channel numbers. I don't know if Tivo have released duplicate channel mappings?
News 24, CBBC and CBeebies may all move channels if you rescan at the moment - they have on mine (N24 now on 40, CBBC on 30, CBeebies on 31)
Also - the rumour was that CNN/Boomerang and TCM would be sharing a single video stream on DTT - so you would only get one of them at any one time... Of course there is no deal yet - but the reserved channel numbers of 44 (News genre slot - CNN?), 32 (Kids genre slot - Boomerang?), 22(Entertainment genre slot - TCM?) kind of hint that preparations have been made?

TiVo now has the new channel line-up, and will retain the old line-up for a week or so.

It looks like the only channel that I don't have on my Sky box that is on DTT is the history UK channel. And what ever FTN TMF is....
Is it worth the xxUKP for a DTT box? Anything to gain with tivo? I can't see it, but if it means an extra box for my stack.... ( piccy here ) then ill use the excuse ;)

FTN is 'Flextech Television Network' - a mix of Bravo and Trouble.
TMF is a new channel from MTV called 'The Music Factory'.
UK History will be on Sky digital from 30th October.

I would lose ntl - does anyone know what exactly is the point in that?
I would gain BBC Radio 4 (in fact, all the FM BBC radio stations would be great on DTT - could they fit in if they dropped a TV/interactive service?)
maybe ITV News for CNN too...

I have the Grundig GDT1500 'Breadbin'
I may replace it with the new Thomson unit which looks a lot nicer :)

After doing an 'add channels' on my ITVD box, BBC News 24 is on channel 25 for me - not 40 as reported by ozsat.

Presumably because you did an ADD CHANNELS rather than a STORE CHANNELS.
ADD CHANNELS does not delete old channel numbers, and thus doesn't always map services to the broadcasters Logical Channel Number.
STORE CHANNELS deletes all previously loaded channels and starts from scratch. Wherever possible the broadcaster assigned channel numbers are used - with "odd" (i.e. no LCN) or duplicate channels stored in the 800s on ITV Digital boxes.

Yes - as said above!
I said a 'store channels' will put 'BBC News 24' on 40!

Hasn't anybody noticed that TiVo now has the 24hour schedules for ITV News on DTT?

No chance! If they gave us E4, I'd buy a box and drop my NTL package down from Family to Access. If we got Sky One too, I'd ditch NTL altogether (well, at least the Cable service).
I basically 'need':
BBC1
BBC2
BBC3
ITV
ITV2
C4
E4
Five
Sky One
Anything else I might have I'd consider a bonus. It's nice to have MTV etc, but I could live without if it saved me having to pay for a subscription service.

Several services are now on-test.
Video is available on channels 11, 12, 42 and 43.
Audio is available on channels 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 81, 82 and 83.
+ all the original services are still there as well.

UKHistory launching OK.
UKHomestyle won't be launched until early next year, and might well be renamed before then as well.
