Firefly Movie?

Does anyone know anything about this? I heard a rumor that they actually shot a 2 hour TV movie of Firefly to be played as a pilot-type episode that explained a lot of the backstory and the war, but FOX did not want to air it for some reason (time contraints, i dunno). It seems feasible, because the show really did start out running. Any ideas?

I wouldn't call it a movie, but a 2-hour pilot was filmed. Fox liked it, but decided it wasn't right for an initial episode. Since then, Fox has shuffled the episodes around. For example, the one that aired this week (3rd), is actually #7.

You can find the Pilot floating around the internet, but the video quality is abysmal. It looks like someone dubbed a bad VHS tape, put the tape in the washing machine, the dryer, the dishwasher, and then captured it into a computer.

But the Pilot itself's really very good. And it does answer a lot of questions. I suspect the reason FOX set it aside is because it's really pretty slow to get going, and they were afraid that without more action in the beginning, people might give up on it before it really gets going.

We may see the it in full, or it might get torn apart and shown as flashbacks spread across other episodes. I don't think it's been decided yet.

I saw the real pilot. It is about 1000x better than that 'Train Job' crap.

I agree. As much as the quality sucked, the episode was good. If you like firefly and have broadband or alot of patience you should find it and download it.

Probably Kazaa-lite would be a good source.

In fact I just checked and was able to find it.

I downloaded both parts (hour 1 and hour 2) off of Kazaa-lite. They are both encoded in MPEG1, not MPEG4, so it's 800MB of video. Horrible video at that; I only watched a few seconds before deciding to wait until it aired on TV.

Sounds like what TNT did to Crusade. I hope Firefly makes it. Very good show.

It's going to be an episode of the show, so the Season Pass will pick it up. Just make sure you don't have anything with a higher priority in the following hour...

Cool... I'll keep an eye on the Upcoming Episodes list and make sure it gets recorded. I have a DirecTivo and don't have anything else on Friday's.
