30 min buffer device wanted

I've got two TiVos and love 'em... couldn't imagine being without them. However, I'd like to find a TiVo like device that would give me a 30 minute buffer... and that's all... no recording, no guide, no channel changing... nothing wanted but a 30 minute buffer for live TV.

I know I could buy another TiVo and never subscribe to the service, but <$300 is a bit steep to get a 30 minute buffer.

Anybody got any ideas?

Yeah - it's called a TiVo with no subscription. Once you put together all the hardware needed to record a buffer, all the rest (except could use a smaller drive) is SW driven.

If your serious, try to find a used Phillips (model 112?) on ebay.

Or a ReplayTV from the first generation. The buffer is even larger.
