Qunlock Help

I replaced my original TIVO A drive and would like to use it on a PC. I know I have to use Qunlock.exe but I can't seem to figure out how to use it. I type in unlock 0 and it says that the unlock failed. Does any one know where I can find a tutorial or something for unlocking the drive?

I have my A drive conected as the Primary Master and I am booting to a standard DOS boot disk with qunlock.exe on it. Also I'm using a Cyrix processor (don't laugh - I use it as a trouble shooting machine since I could care less if I fry the machine)

Thank You

It's not really the sort of thing that needs a tutorial!

I've never seen the 'Unlock failed' message.

Have you tried booting a Kazymyr Boot CD? Presumably this isn't easy for you to do or you wouldn't be using qunlock, but it does use a different unlocking mechanism to qunlock. (And kazymyr posts on this board, so you can complain to him personally if it doesn't work! :D)

You're presumably typing qunlock 0 rather than unlock 0 or you'd get a 'Bad command or filename' error.

Is this drive a Quantum Fireball lct20?

Have you tried dlgchk.exe? It's not suitable for what you want because the unlock only lasts until the power goes off, but it might be a useful data point.

If you have another PC handy, it would be worth trying that - some PC's just don't seem suitable for TiVo upgrades.
