Actually, it's interesting to learn that they haven't decided anything firm yet and are crafting this season to work out any possible solution for next season.

I just hope this doesn't lead to some loose ends.

But, good to know they are working on it!

Personally, if SMG leaves and there's no Faith replacement, I'd rather see the rumored Ripper series made.

I don't think Dawn of the Vampire Slayer is going to do it for me.

Faith would be... interesting. I'll have to see where this season takes us before having an opinion about whether that would work or not.

She's not so whiney any more, and I suspect that was their plan all along...throw her in the deep end and let her grow up over time.

Faith would be fantastic, and I still say it would be a great career move for Dushka to get a couple years of very high visibility with a very rabid fan base.

Xander the Vampire Slayer? You run out of options pretty quick. I think bringing in somebody new would be a huge mistake.

Hey, Michelle Trachtenburg just turned 17...she'd be legal just in time for next season. :) :up: (Xander is the wrong gender, btw...it's ALWAYS a female.)

Yeah, but he's pretty close. :D

Actually, I look forward to him in the season. Maybe we'll see less of the "Zeppo" and more of him being a real person. I like the job part of him. It helps his character, IMO.

I don't know the source of the comment you refer to, Cathy, but it's entirely possible he said something along these lines. It's also not beyond the stretch of the imagination that indeed he won't have 2 other shows by the time the decision making time comes - I'm pretty much betting the farm on Firefly being Joss' "Harsh Realm."

"Harsh Realm," for those of you who don't recognize it, is Chris Carter's fairly well reviewed second show after The X-Files, but due to it being put on Friday Night and tanking in the ratings, was VERY quickly scrubbed after only a few episodes aired.

I find that hard to believe considering that Firefly is rarely shown when it is supposed to be shown. Two out of four shows so far have been pre-empted by baseball. Only a die-hard couch potato would put up with that crap. If this continues, and I'm sure it will, Firefly will not have much of an audience left.

Well, it's getting higher ratings than Buffy...I believe substantially higher (c. 25%). And all episodes have aired here as scheduled...

[Edit] Oops, my mistake; it's only marginally higher than Buffy. Story here. And I think there have only been three episodes so far...

Right, because Friday's episode was pre-empted by baseball. Fox is the wrong network for Firefly. They should have at least waited until the baseball season is over before starting Firefly. And they should have started the season with the real two-hour pilot Serenity.

No expert here certainly but is it even remotely comparable to match ratings from a Fox show with a WB show? I didn't think WB had the penetration Fox does? I'm probably wrong, just wondering.....

And man am I having a tough time with Firefly, I am watching, I am giving it the old college try, but watching it feels almost like a chore, sort of watching "just in case".

Not giving up though!

Actually, Buffy's current home is UPN, which suffers even WORSE clearance problems than does the WB.

Speaking of Xander the Vampire Slayer... I was talking with a friend tonight and said it would be cool (assuming Buffy ends) if some of the characters went over to Angel (assuming Angel doesn't end). Friend said, Xander couldn't go because he hates Angel, which got me to thinking, Xander could be the big bad in the next season of Angel. That would be cool! Wouldn't it? Now that I typed it out I'm not so sure... :)

Thanks Pan, I think I knew better than that. Funny thing about TiVo, you start to forget who shows what, its just there! hehe
