The new(?) Ask This Old House Hour

What do you think? My opinion...LAME! Last seasons project really turned me off to the whole program. This season's project is a little more down to earth, but the Ask TOH segment has been done before, over and over by countless shows on HGTV and TLC.

I just happened to catch part of this show yesterday. What's the overall premise? Do they just answer veiwer questions or what?

The idea seems like a good one, but it's so poorly executed! They make the rest of them come off as bumbling idiots when discussing projects the others are doing...

The thing I was missing from the original (Bob Villa) episodes was the parts of the show that actually showed you how to do home improvement tasks. I like that they are bringing that back, but it was not very well done.

Hmm, my wife and I watched it, we have a season pass. Only saw one episode so far, but we really liked it. I thought it was neat how they just showed up at the guy's house and made some new steps. It was somewhat insightful because they attacked the problem differently than I was expecting.

That's my point, the "ask the expert" premise has been done to death, and and "Ask This Old House" doesn't add anything new to the mix, if anything, it's been done better by others. I expect better from This Old House, or at least I used to. The shop scenes in particular make the guys look like a bunch of goofy jerks. It seems to me that the producer, Russell Morash has lost touch with the viewers. Maybe with the success of the show, he's now in the economic strata that views multi (and then some) million dollar homes as attainable by the average viewer? What explains the goofy retread "Ask This Old House", is beyond me
