LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Sportscaster Ahmad Rashad will be calling a different kind of game later this season when he hosts the celerity version of "The Mole" for ABC.

The Emmy-Award winning sports journalist and former NFL all-pro wide receiver will replace Anderson Cooper, who hosted the previous two versions of the reality contest. Cooper is now focusing on his news reporter and anchor duties on CNN.

"Celebrity Mole" is a special six-episode version of the contest with a pot of up to $250,000. Seven celebrities will try to figure out which contestant is really The Mole, a double agent planted by the producers to sabotage the players' efforts. Rashad will lead the players through a series of challenging physical and mental games to earn money for the pot, which will ultimately be given to the last player standing against The Mole.

"We are thrilled that Ahmad has signed on to join us as host of 'Celebrity Mole,'" says executive producer Scott A. Stone. "His energy, hosting expertise and competitive spirit make him the perfect choice."

Rashad has hosted "NBA's Inside Stuff" for 12 seasons and recently signed on to work with ESPN and ABC on their newly acquired NBA coverage. Before he began his career as a sportscaster in 1983, Rashad was a four-time pro-bowl player for the Minnesota Vikings and was recently voted to the Viking's 40th anniversary team.

this is horrible... Half the reason I don't watch the NBA is that most of the announcers are so bad. (except Charles Barkely). Ahmad Rashad is so horrible bad, I've never really seen him not read off a teleprompt. Maybe he'll loosen up and have some real personality but I seriously doubt that..

Maybe thay should of gotten Bill Walton.

Uh, if Ahmad Rashad has an Emmy, I (and you and everyone else on the planet) deserve to have at least three.

Then again, I don't know if I could kiss Michael Jordan's ass anywhere near as much as Ahmad did... :rolleyes:

I don't know... I've gone by "Inside Stuff" in the past, and I thought he was ok. He seemed to at least have some life. I hope he tries to adopt at least SOME of Anderson's dry humor.

There should be a law passed in hollywood designating "celebrities" and "15 minutes of famers gone bad" as two seperate groups. Oh, and we can't forget "washed up celebrities desperate for cash" as a third group as well. I am tired of hearing about "celebrity editions" of shows, when these people are not celebrities!

But I totally agree that without Anderson, this show is over. People watched it because of Anderson!
