Think I'll Try A Series2....

Well, based on the feedback I got from my previous question, I think I'll try a Series2. However, I am curiuos if anyone can tell me if there is any advantage to getting an AT&T model?

I know that the AT&T model has controls on the faceplate, but what about beyond that?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank-you in advance.

The main advantage of the AT&T model is that it's cheaper. Also, if you have AT&T cable, you may be able to get the TiVo to control your cable box via serial rather than IR. If you don't have AT&T cable, it's really no different than any other Series 2.

AT&T 40 hour, $200 (after rebate), $5 per hour of recording time.
TiVo 60-hour, $300 (after rebate) , $5 per hour of recording time.
TiVo or Sony 80-hour, $350 (after rebate), $4.38 per hour of recording time.

If you're planning on upgrading anyway, the cheapest one is probably best.

It also depends on how much space you think you'll need. I record everything on Medium, and I have a 20-hour and a 30-hour. Personally, I can't stand having more than 10 hours or so worth of stuff recorded. I like to keep both TiVo's as empty as possible. So for me, there's no reason to add a bigger drive or to get a newer TiVo.
