Sony series 2 pricing and question about SA's

First question, I noticed that someone posted the 50.00 rebate might be available for the new Sony series 2. Anyone seen/confirmed this anywhere? The lowest that I have seen it is on goodguys for 449.00.

Second question involves all SA's. I use cable 90% of the time but I use directv for NFL Sunday ticket. Will it be easy to hook both up and just switch where the unit gets its input signal from? For those who would ask why I don't use the sat. all the time I get cable for free as part of my rent from my apartment complex, so for now at least I'm going with the free option.

Is it cable without a box?? If so, TiVo will nicely integrate the two.

As a side note, you can get DirecTV and get *just* NFL Sunday Ticket and no oterh channles? If you *do* get other channles via DirecTV, I *strongly* suggest a DirecTiVo. Records two things at once. Records everything at highes quality. (it just saves the data stream)

Its without the cable box, so it's good to hear that it will be easy to change out the two. From what you are saying I can leave the both hooked up and choose which input Tivo uses, yes?

I get the cable for free so while I know that Directv is sooooo much better it would be a 50.00 a month bill that I'd rather do without for now. But of course I can't miss my favorite team play each Sunday so I get the NFL Sunday Ticket. If I move and have to pay for cable its a no-brainer...Directv all the way. And I figure I'll get the Directivo at that point. Two Tivo's are better than one!

You run guided setup and tell it the sources you have then it downloads the program info for each, then TiVo works its magic which gives you a integrated guide and much more.

TiVo does everything for you.

If you use a DTivo, you can only record DTV. With a SA Tivo you can record from DTV, Cable and OTA, even if you have a cable box and a SAT box. The IR blaster has the capability of controling 2 different boxes, that's why it has 2 leads.

Although "free cable" may mean it's stolen, there are other possible explanations, too. For instance, it might be included the the OP's rent, or the OP may have gotten some number of free months from the cable company as part of a promotion or as recompense for a screwup on their part.

Or the OP may work for a cable company (a friend of mine used to produce local cable advertising in Indiana and got free cable). But since this is what the OP actually posted, I think it's the real reason... :D

yeah, i'm using a stand-alone with cable and directv. It seems that TIVO uses channel 100 as the cutoff point for switching inputs.

<100 ---> cable
>=100 ---> dish

Yes. The Sony SVR3000 is eligible for the $50 rebate - just look at the rebate form
here

Sweet, thanks for pointing that out about the rebate.

Yeah, I do get cable for free as it is built into my rent payment. Trying to keep ahead of the bills and keep costs low, but I do miss Directv...sniff sniff.

Thanks for all the responses....Tivo here I come!
