AOL-TW Bid for TiVo Rumor

I am starting a new thread since the old one turned into an AOL ISP-bashing thread.

I wouldn't be surprised if the rumor is true. It's only a matter of time before TiVo gets acquired by someone, considering their high potential relative to their small market cap. If not AOL-TW, then maybe Sony will acquire them. Personally, I would prefer that kind of match up if it means Sony will start deploying TiVo software in more kinds of electronic devices. The AOL-TW acquisition makes sense though, considering the complaints that a certain Turner Broadcasting exec has been making about PVRs. What better way to control the recording habits of PVR owners than to buy the 800 lb gorilla of PVRs?

It's not far fetched that AOL would expect/want something for their investment. It seems a little odd though considering the fact that TW is pushing their own version of PVR. I have no real interest in surfing on my TV as it would be just another cost to my DirecTV bill & my ISP is $9.99mo. The impression I get of the merged AOL-TW is that it's very lacking in inter-communication.

A couple of weeks ago, there was an article in WSJ Europe, in which the new CEO of AOL seemed to be hinting at a development, that may include Tivo or something similar.
