Hi my name is Bill and I am a TIVO addict. Having said that the need to upgrade my DSR6000 goes without saying. I considered the Hinsdale method but in the interest of time and convenience I bought an upgrade kit from PTVupgrade to replace my A drive with a 109 hr drive. E-mail questions before and after the sale where answered promptly. I found the procedure to be quite easy. There was even a personal phone call from Lou to assure that all had gone well with the upgrade. All is working perfectly and my craving for more recording time has been satisfied for the time being. Thanks Lou and PTVupgrade.

Congrats! I just did the Hinsdale guide upgrade (used qunlock, mfstools 2.0) to go from 15 hours to 140 hours. :)
I recommend trying it yourself if you chose to add even more space - it isn't that hard! You can save some $$$ that way...my drive was $137 shipped and the install just cost me a couple hours on a Sunday.

After the upgrade I wanted to try Hinsdale for possible future upgrades. After burning the CD my computer would not boot. I had the CDROM as the first boot device but for some reason it wouldn't work for me. I have a Dell running ME and A14 bios. Could be something wrong with the CD I burned I suppose.

The noJ.iso file that Hinsdale now links to is more reliable than the original mfstools2 ISO.
Have you tried the boot floppy instead? The only extra you need if you use that is qunlock.

i too had no luck getting the mfstools 2.0 boot CD to work. I just ended up using two boot disks (one for qunlock, the other the mfstools 2.0 boot floppy) and it worked like a champ.
The only quirk i had is that i actually have three ATA channels on my motherboard (two regular, one ATA-100) and qunlock couldn't see the ATA-100 at all. mfstools had no problem working with them, though... correctly identified them as hde and hdf.
ok, i had one other quirk. i forgot to plug the power cord into the hard drive, and had a very panicky 2 minutes at the end of the upgrade. ;)

Thanks for the feedback on my computer not booting with the CD. I will try the boot floppy when I get some time.
