I need help.... One of my Hughes direcTivos stopped working about three months ago. I woke up one morning to find it stuck in the "Almost There..." screen and tried to reboot. It got stuck again. I called Hughes to get it replaced and it seems they are on eternal backorder. Then I tried these forums. i was told it was probably a hard drive problems, but have since tried two new hard drives with the same problem resulting. Any suggestions?

what is a MODEM?

What Tivo image was on the replaced hard drive?
If it was an blank hard-drive it will most likely give the same message as an bad hard drive.

If it gets to 'Almost there' it has loaded Linux and started the boot sequence, but the TiVo interface hasn't started. This can be caused by a faulty modem (try flashing the boot PROM and removing modemtest from rc.sysinit), corrupt MFS partitions (seem to have covered that) or a faulty power supply (call weaknees).
If you put a dead/blank/incorrectly jumpered/etc hard drive, it will stick at 'Welcome', which is highly diagnostic of a failed drive. Sticking at 'Almost there' has many more causes.
