a *53* hour marathon of old Late Night classics over the Thanksgiving weekend. A January launch of daily airings (though maybe just 80 episodes total)

Hope they do the Sonny and Cher reunion episode where they sing "I Got You Babe."

For anyone interested: This will be Trio
I don't believe I receive that network via Comast...too bad.

Still have that one (and many of the other "special episodes") on VHS! :)

Yeah, from what I'm reading, it's not exactly a mainstream channel. It's channel 315 on DirecTv for any DTV subs who have never heard of the channel before.

7. Dropping stuff from buildings!
6. The Late Nite Book Lady!
5. Pissing off GE execs and NBC News people!
4. Elevator and chair races!
3. Brother Theadore!
2. Larry Bud!
1. Hal Guerny (sp?)

I used to like the "Theme Shows" they'd do from time to time...I have several of THOSE on tape, too.
"Too Tired to Do a Show" (from their 14th floor offices)
"Parents Night"
"The Morning Show" (for people who timeshift the program to the next morning)
"Larry 'Bud' Melman Fills in for Vacationing Dave"
"360 Degree Rotation Show"
"Summer Replacement Special Show"
"International Night"
"Dave's Christmas Specials (I & II)"
Dave's Week in L.A.
Dave's Week in Vegas
Dave's Week in Chicago
and so forth...!
They've lost a certain "edge" that they had when they were doing those "experimental" programs. I don't think they've done anything remotely like them on CBS, have they?

Wasn't she one of the best! I remember not too long ago that Dave gave condolences to her family.
I also miss Larry Bud but I'm sure he's probably retired by now.

My all-time favorite. I was still laughing the next few days just thinking about it.

By the way, that WAS the episode when Dave finally got Teri Garr to take a shower...! :)

I can't say I'd totally agree with that.
They had some great shows during the writers strikes when they had to totally improvise things. The top ten list of 'This would have been a top ten list if the writers were here' type thing was pretty funny.
One of the best bits was when Letterman took the stand-by audience and loaded them on a charter bus with Tony Randall and sent them on a Thanksgiving/holiday trip to Florida. They stopped along the way at some sort of low budget store and bought everyone Olive Drab T-shirts so everyone would match.
That was classic stuff, and rivalled just about anything done on NBC.
I can't say that some of the edge isn't gone from Letterman's current show, but given an opportunity, he still finds some classic stuff in the current shows -- including some of the Biff Henderson's America stuff.

Bump
This is starting to show up in the guides now but only the first 2 days. It starts at 7:30am (CST) on Thursday, November 28. I set up a season pass because they are putting other programming in some of the time slots such as The Moth at 10:30, Trio on Tour Concert at 1:30, Paid Programming starting at 2:00 thru 6:30 with antoher Trio on Tour Concert at 7:00. The marathon starts back up at 7:30am on Friday. The episodes have titles.

Anybody know these answers:
Are the 53 episodes included in the 80 episodes that they will start showing in january, or does that make 133?
It says they'll have 80 episodes starting in january? Why only 80, aren't there around 2500 or so?

Are they repeating the shows? I set up a Auto record title Wishlist for "LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN" but the airings on Dec. 1 won't record because of the "28 day" rule.
Does anyone know if those are repeats or maybe they haven't updated the guide data yet?

Mike_TV, I saw that also so I made a list and it looks like they are showing 34 different episodes then repeating them. I thought all of the segments were going to be unique but it doesn't look that way.

If anyone comes a cross a more thorough set of listings for these shows please post. I'd love to see a complete guest list for each show, particularly the musical guests.
