zaknafein, does the "AT" at the end of your Sports/Football Season Pass mean Tivo will only pick up actual games? I've been trying to figure out a way to have my Tivo SP games only, as "Sports/Football & Niners" also picks up those local channel post-game analysis specials, which I don't want.

Thanks.

Precisely. The descriptions always have "AT" in them, so having that in the WL cuts out all that other crud. Also, the order is arbitrary, so this will catch both home and away games.

9. The Brak Show (2)
10. The Adventures of Pete and Pete (3)

Notes:

1. Set to KAM=1 and Basic quality now. I have the first 3 seasons on DVD, and the entire 4th season saved on the TiVo.

2. Padded 15 mins to catch the following show (currently Space Ghost Coast to Coast). I'm pondering replacing with a manual recording for the entire "Adult Swim" block on Sundays. I wish TiVo had "para-shows" listed.

3. Recording for a friend.

Enterprise was in there until 2 weeks ago. Good riddance.

1. Alias
2. Boomtown
3. Sopranos
4. 24
5. Sex & the City
6. The Wire
7. Friends
8. West Wing
9. Gilmore Girls
10. Ed

Something like that.

Boomtown over Sopranos b/c Sopranos is ARWL and I pad both Sopranos & Alias, so needed to bump Boomtown to get that as well.

Sex & the City should probably be lower, but I haven't gotten around to moving it; Wired is a FR&Repeats ARWL, I'm hoping they replay the first season.

Posted by: grecorj

Soon to be 10, as Haunted is likely to get cancelled.

If you like 3rd Watch, try Boomtown.

Buffy
Alias
Smallville
West Wing
Shield
L&O: CI
Ed
L&O
Sopranos
Wire

These listed in the order they apppear on my SP List, but it is not the same as our order of priority. As far as actual viewing priority:

Sopranos is second only to Buffy, The Wire third to Sopranos, and Six Feet Under is fourth, but since these shows are on HBO and get multiple showings, they are further down the list so as not to interfere with the networks' shows. Curb your Enthusiasm falls into this same category.

Since a couple people have said they only have x-number of SPs, I'm curious to know: How many SPs do each of you have?

Including a fairly large number of KAM=1 shows like BBC News and Andy Griffith reruns, I have a total of about 43 SPs.

Well, I have two DTiVos, so I'm not sure how I'd split them if I had to pick the Top 10 overall. I just made one DTiVo be the WB/UPN/NBC TiVo, and the other the ABC/FOX/CBS TiVo. This eliminated any primetime network conflicts FOR ME, so that's why I did it that way. To answer Dawghows's question, I have 24 SP's and ARWL's on TiVo1, and 45 on Tivo2. Some of those are for shows that have been cancelled, but I've kept them around in case they re-air at some point (like Greg the Bunny did over the summer).

Tivo 1:
Buffy
Angel
Smallville
Birds of Prey
Charmed
Friends
Do Over
Dinner for Five (IFC) - Manual
Boomtown
ER

TiVo 2:
Survivor: Thailand
Firefly
Alias
The Amazing Race 3
24
The Simpsons
Futurama
NYPD Blue
King of the Hill
That '70s Show
John Doe - yeah, that's #11, but I liked last night's show (oops, last week's) and it might be moving up the list soon.

Notice that the order of some of these (Simpsons/Futurama for example) is arbitrary, since they're on the same network. And Charmed might be coming down, since I still haven't watched anything beyond the season opener this time around. I guess I should make sure it's not KAM=5 or else watch an episode or two in the next day or two.

The 10 that are currently airing new episodes (hence no Sex and the City)
1. Drew Carey
2. Frasier
3. Enterprise
4. Twilight Zone
5. Becker
6. Just Shoot Me
7. That 70's Show (will now be a conflict since Shoot Me is moving to 8pm)
8. John Doe
9. My Wife and Kids (when Enterprise is in reruns, otherwise watch it live)
10. Curb Your Enthusiasm
10 1/2. The Man Show (didn't want to leave it out)

Posted by: bobcarn

Well, this isn't the order that I really like the shows, just the order that my season passes are set at. Generally, the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) shows get put up first because they air their shows only once. And the order doesn't mean much to me because they all don't overlap. The premium channels with their own original programming (HBO, Showtime) get put further down on the list because Tivo can get them at various times throughout the week.

Friends
Smallville
Birds of Prey
Enterprise
The Shield
Simpsons
Malcom in the Middle
Queer as Folk
Odyssey 5
Mutant X

Six Feet Under used to be in the top of the list, but they started getting kind of smug during their last season.

I think what would be interesting is what's on the bottom of people's SP's! All those weird shows that you kind of like watching and get pushed down and never deleted.

Here's my Top Ten Season passes (for our two DirecTivos):

DTivo 1 (my wifes, with most of our 'joint' shows)

1. The West Wing (joint)
2. Alias (joint)
3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (joint)
4. Angel (joint)
5. Enterprise (joint)
6. Survivor: Thailand (joint)
7. The Agency (joint)
8. Hack (her show)
9. Do Over (my show)
10. Family Law (her show)
11. Charmed (ARWL - joint)

There are 22 SP/ARWL on DTivo 1 - mostly my wifes gardening shows: Ground Force, Garden Architecture, Rebeccas Garden and Martha Stewart Living.

DTivo 2 (my tivo)

1. ER
2. Friends
3. Frasier
4. Malcolm in the Middle
5. The Simpsons
6. Scrubs
7. 24 (joint)
8. Birds of Prey (joint)
9. Firefly (joint)
10. Boomtown
11. John Doe

There's 36 SPs/ARWL on DTivo 2 - notables missing from top ten: NHL 2 Night, Sex & the City, Sopranos, Mind of the Married Man - all due to multiple airings.

I also schedule lots of manual recordings for NHL Center Ice Hockey games, and ALL San Jose Sharks games.

I think South Park is my lowest ranked Season Pass, but it's followed by a handful of ARWL's. The last of those is an advanced wishlist for "Good Eats", "Olivers Twist", "Naked Chef", and "30 minute meals". I used to have 30 or so ARWLs for actors/director, but I have since combined them into a few advanced wishlists:

"I See LEXX People" (the actors and directors of LEXX)

"Indie Greats" (some of my favorite independent actors and directors)

"Foreign Masters" (foreign directors and actors, mostly from the first half of the 20th century)

"Contemporary Greats" (really good mainstream actors, ie, Ewan McGregor)

"Classics" (can't remember the exact name I gave it offhand, essentially the domestic version of the Foreign Masters wl)

"The Establishment" (mainstream actors/directors, to round out the selection and pick up stuff on HBO/Showtime)

"Babes" (female actors who are nice to look at :) most of the ones in here can act, too, though.)

didn't someone have a website set up where you could enter your season passes and it would create a composit list. I dont think I have it bookmarked.

Discussion:
Top SP or Top Priority SP? I think The Shield is one of the best shows on television, but since FX replays it so often, it doesn't get a high priority. The same goes for Food Network's Cook's Tour and Good Eats.

3) Buffy the Vampire Slayer
4) Angel
5) 24
6) The Simpsons
7) The Sopranos
8) Futurama
9) Trigger Happy TV
10) Mail Call

I actually have Buffy SP's on three channels; only the channel showing the current season is ranked high. The Sopranos, Simpsons, and 24 I have setup under two different channels each with SP's. I'm not entirely sure about the bottom 5 of this list; some of these might be out of order, or there might be other shows not listed here that are actually higher on the list than Mail Call or Trigger Happy TV, but I can't remember.

Might as well mention the also rans (in very approximate order):

11) The McLaughlin Group
12) The Computer Chronicles
13) The Screen Savers
14) Extended Play
15) Fresh Gear
16) Tech Live

Computer Chronicles appears to be a time machine from some time between 1998 and 2000; I guess they are not making new episodes. Everything below that is TechTV.
