I have a 30 hr Tivo which has a defective modem. Other than that it works fine (or did until the tech rep at Tivo asked me to rerun guided setup which it cannot get out of without successfully completing a call).

I don't have the know how to fix it. I also don't have broadband. What I'd like to do is sell it and get a fair price for it. Can you guys tell me what its worth. I figure that it should be worth something to someone who has the technical know how to get it running right.

Just use an external modem, no need to sell it.

defianatly don't sell... at least for the moment there is much more that you can do with a series 1 tivo that you can't (yet) accomplish on a series 2... and personally dialup modems seem a rather archaic means of downloading data (well if you happen to have broadband)

to answer your question though, a sony series 1 with a bad modem just sold on ebay earlier this week for 258.00 ((i know this because at the time i was chasing after a series 1 myself)) :D

I don't know what it's worth, you might check on E-Bay. New Series II units are going for $199 (after rebate).

I guess I need to get my HDR212 dusted off and put it on ebay...

If someone can get $258 for a SA with a bad modem, then I suppose that I could be persuaded to my SA with a good modem for the same....
