WOW, I must admit I was weak and could not wait to watch this one this Sunday, so I downloaded an awesome SVCD version off the newsgroups.
Spoilers below, dont read if you dont want to be spoiled!
You could see the second half of this one comming from a mile away after the frist 15 mins or so though.
Looks like Jack and Sydney are back to square 1 again huh? I wonder if Sydney will tell her superiors and get Spy Mom back in the loop?
I dont understand how Vaugn knew the exact type of explosives used on the book hideout. I don't recall the team mentioning anything about the types of explosives.
Also there was no mention of "The Book" does Jack have it?

Good episode. As for your questions:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
My guess is that they got some residue from the bombs before they left Madagascar.
As for the book, it has been my contention that Jack was in possession of it. Now that we see his man did not make it back to the States without being caught I wonder where it might be.

Not necessarily. At first, I thought the guy training the kids was going to have been someone that trained Sidney and that Jack knew about it but was hiding it.
Anyways, what a great episode. I loved that part about the antidote that Sloane found. Imagine the story lines if Emily is not dead......

True, I still like the idea that Emily is a spy for some other organization.

As predicted, my TiVo obeyed the 28-day rule and forgot to record "Alias." Fortunately, I was ready to watch it live and caught the little bugger after 60 seconds.

My DTiVo did just fine. :)

Doh! Not only did the schedule weirdness confuse my TiVo, it confused me! I looked at the guide data, said: "Hey, wasn't this on last week? Anyway, it's just the first episode again..." and skipped it. Can anyone point me to a synopsis, so I can catch up?

Did anyone else's jaw drop when Sydney testified before the Joint Committee on Intelligence?! What makes her think that SD-6 wouldn't find out?
This business of her doing more and more missions for the CIA is getting out of hand.

Dont forget she's in grad school too! :D

A quick answer to the explsoive question. Vaughn knew what type they were because he was there and saw it with his own eyes.
I was pleased with this episode. I like the kid training idea. It makes more sense than Sydney just getting recruited in college and BAM she's a superspy.
One complaint. I'm noticing a lot more cheesy looking scenes and/or gadgets being used this season (with the rocket sled being the worst offender). I liked the lip gloss camera shooter, but the portable booster platform was really silly.
And of course, I can't post on Alias without reiterating how hot she is. All the different hair styles and outfits are really acheiving their intended goal of keeping my eyes glued.
WOW

Remember last year when the CIA was so hot to check Sydney's DNA to see if she matched the signs in the Rimbaldi papers, and Sydney's insistence that was her mom... I sure hope someone thought to take a blood sample!

Acutally the portable booster thing was quite realistic. I dont know if many of you remember but they were real popular for a short while at basketball games. Mascots would use them to make slam dunks from the 3 point line, but then I think a lot of them got hurt and stopped using them... Probably because they found out that insurance wouldn't pay for their injuries.

As far as the gadgets, I love them, believable or not. But I really like her flipping out her folding Palm keyboard and Palm (I assume it was a Palm).

Actually I think it was a PocketPC. Worse yet, I think they make that same kind of keyboard for the PocketPC these days. (Though it was first available for the Palm -- I had one of the first ones.)
I just loved Vaughn's comment about civil rights today -- though I admit I don't think it's quite appropriate for the show to "tell it like it is" on things like that, I still couldn't help appreciating it.

Too bad Alias and 24 are on different networks. I would love to see a crossover episode (if that could ever be woven together realistically) so that we could have Syd and Kim in the same episode......

The Russian semtex (sp???) was a plot point from the show where the building was blown; it was one of the ways they tied the explosivies (errorneously) to Mom. Dad used that stock on purpose to frame her.
