Replacement TV stands/cabinets
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am just about to but a 32inch Panasonic TV (TX32PL10), which includes a "open" TV stand with a single non adjustable shelf and no doors.
I have two children, both with obsessive knob twiddling tendencies on any hifi equipment within reach.
Does any one know of any companies or shops that sell suitable "modernish" TV stands with multiple shelves and glass doors to keep wondering fingers out ?

You could try this. :)

In a similar vein, I am looking for a nice, new, large (to house the ever increasing number of appliances) TV/Video/Hi Fi effort. Needs to be lots of glass - is there anything/anyone producing decent kit other than Alphason (which seems a tad expensive)

I looked at

Most are nice looking, expensive and but no doors to keep fiddling fingers out.

My experience with ones with doors is that they are actually worse with kids (it's amazing how quickly you can get across a room when you realise a 2 year old is about to slam a glass door shut as hard as they can!
I found the threat of no CBeebies if they touched one of Daddy's silver boxes pretty effective in the end.
But why oh why do Sky boxes have the smatcard sticking out begging to be removed by little hands!

Oh, don't start about the Sky card sticking out. Our equipment is in the corner on the floor awaiting the arrival of a chippie to build us nice cabinets. To keep the card in, we had to use *loads* of sellotape.
Imagine my horror when I opened my new Tivo box up the other day only to see the IR lead! Within 5 minutes, junior had yanked it half-way across the living room. That too is now swaithed in sellotape!

I found the IR leads fell victim to an overenthusiastic cleaner more than once. In the end we just had to say not to clean anywhere near the TV!

Or you could try a server cabinet! ;)
Nicely lockable - and I can get cantelever shelves made for a fiver each. Ask all your IT mates, someone is bound to be lobbing one out somewhere... do a serch for guydewdney and rack for a picture of mine... (i think the thread was called VCR size)
Also - server racks or 19" racks have openable sides and backs. Glass fronts, cable management, adjustable shelves, very solid (noone is nicking mine, it took two of us to bring it in... empty!
some are even wall mountable.
