Any idea what the code for Tivo is for this, I've looked at the web site but there is no section for PDR's.
Cheers
Posted by: woody
Before you can use this, you need to call OFA CS, and ask them to download the data file for Tivo. Please note that if you have a DVD player set up as well, to tell them this, as the DVD and Tivo codes use the same memory in the remote.
The OFA website would class Tivo as a VCR, but AFAIK its not listed yet. Only upgradeable via the phone.
Tivo code is 0722, once you get the download.

whats OFA ? (forgive my ignorance)

One For All. A company who make universal remote controls.
The one I have works with my Tv/VCR/DVD/Tivo/Sky/FTA

Cheers Woody, I'll give that a try.

How does the OFA cope with the tivo thumbs?

Some functions, including both 'thumbs', don't come pre-programmed into the unit though they can be added to any button you want as the OFA6 is a programmable and learning remote.
Posted by: woody
I have all the functions of the original remote on the OFA.
I set the red sp/lp button as thumbs down and the green stop button as thumbs up.
I did post a complete set of Magic codes for the OFA and Tivo functions several months ago.
Posted by: woody
Here are some of the Magic Codes you may need for your OFA to work with Tivo
533 - Aux Bypass
726 - Instant replay
377 - Live TV
281 - VCR bypass
411 - enter/jump
245 - thumbs down
377 - guide
474 - jump to live
503 - Thumbs up
663 - exit/clear
630 - down
378 - left
632 - right
505 - ok/select
663 - exit/shift
728 - speed/slow
697 - menu/TIVO
372 - up
279 - standby
most of the functions are already assigned to keys, but you may need some of the above.
Also SELECT (OFA mute) only works for about 10 seconds after pressing TIVO (OFA menu). I find that the right arrow works for select.

If anyone's remotely interested (no pun intended)... here's my Pronto CCF which includes my Tivo setup.
Posted by: SGH42
Do you think a Pronto is worth getting then ?
Trying to convince myself but the cost is a downer !

Please note,
sometimes when you download the tivo code to the OFA6 , the digit 3 is programmed as the number 5
the magic code for the digit "3" is 599, therefore you can use the magic code eg
1. Press the relevant device key
2. Hold the Magic key until the red light blinks once and then twice
3. Enter code 994 (the red light will blink twice)
4. Press Magic once and let go
5. Enter the 3-digit code for the required function (eg 599)
6. Press the key you wish to assign the function to (e.g. the 3 key)
7. The red light will blink twice and that key should now function

Ahh so that's what it is - I thought I'd done something wrong and swapped keys round. I've been using 299 the Channel Up to get to UK Gold for weeks now. This is great news I'll implement it tonight. Thanks tivo_boj :D
I also think I get 7 when I press 4 - is this part of the same problem?

Well, pronto works fine with both Tivo and the other IR stuff in the front room - with the exception of the NTL cable box :(
The main plus's :
-flexibility of adding macros (multiple button presses) to a single key
-lot of downloadable codes for systems including some 'off' commands not on your remote.
-design your own screen layouts to suit your needs
the main minus's :
-cost, although places like ebay are seeing 890's for around £140
-flat touch screen. The screen works well, but the lack of tactile buttons can cause problems, especially if trying to use it in the dark. (Tho there is a backlight function)
-size, is quite a bulky item (although not as bulky as 5 remote control units :))

All the other digits are OK on my OFA6
iI have downloaded the tivo codes by phone twice , and its only the digt 3 thats a problem . I have asked OFA to look at there master code to try and rectify..
Also I tried to get a full list of magic digits codes (ie the 0-9), and they would not let me have them. Something aboyut copyright etc, akthough they previously let me have all the other codes
If we all go to them and ask fof a different digit, maybe we can compile a full 0-9 list!!
BTW checkout the OFA Kameleon. Its new and just in Dixons for £69.99.
The symbols light up on a plain face, and change dependant on the type of device. Not a LCD screen though, but has buttons behind the screen (so you get positive feedback). has the normal OFA commands (majic codes, download by internet etc)
When pressing SAT you get a little icon with PVR on it.
That all I could gleem for playing with it still in its package.
check it out here

599 - 3
603 - 4
596 - 5
600 - 6
598 - 7
602 - 8
??? - 9
can't find 0 or 9 though (not in the range 590 - 605 anyway. Although looking at the list now I can see a pattern of sorts but I can't work out what 0 and 9 will be...one for the mathematicians amongst us :D

Hello,
I have got a OneForAll Topline 8, got the telephone update done and it now works with my Tivo but lacking lots of buttons. I have seen the posts in this thread with the magic codes in, but can anyone tell me how to use them? - in the manual it just says for key magic to call customer services :(
Thanks
Ian
Posted by: woody
Ian,
My OFA6 tells me this, hope its the same for yours.
1 Press the device key (TV, VCR, SAT, CD, AUD, etc)
2 Press and hold the MAGIG key until the device key blinks twice (the device key will blink once then twice)
3 Press the 9 9 4 The device key will blink twice
4 Press the MAGIC key once
5 Enter the 3 digit function code (as listed elsewhere here or OFA CS)
6 Press the key to which the function willbe assigned. The device key will blink twice.
You can't program any of the codes to any of these keys (Device keys, Magic key, Home Theater key and the Mute key)

i think the Pronto is worth getting and there only £153 inc PP from Richer Sounds web site. the new colour ones are even better but you will need a big income to justify spending so much on a control alone.

If you're one of those people who operate the TiVo remote by feel, or you need to put your reading glasses on to read the labels on the remote, you are not going to like the Pronto. There is no tactile feedback, and you have to check the display to find out which screen you are on and to find where the buttons are. I also think the monochrome display is very poor quality. I have one but rarely use it.

I found that my OFA 6 with 0722 code had 5 programmed into the 0 key (which expains why I could not get the 30sec skip to work with SPS30S). Spoke to OFA CS and got the code for 0 - Magic 665. ( Does not fit into any patten that I can see.)

Does anyone happen to know the OneForAll magic code for TiVo TV Volume Up/Down? I have just had my OneForAll6 upgraded (to add the Pace DigiCable 4000 box) and I now seem to have lost the ability to control theTV Volume when I am in TiVo mode. (I know I could just press TV change the volume and then press TiVo again - but it worked OK before)

Is it possible the you have to re-enter the volume punch-through mode. (MAGIC 993 TV) ?

I ended up getting a Pronto Neo for that reason. It's got 13 programmable hard buttons - just enough for the major functions. Means I can operate it in the dark ;)

I agree with you 100%. I bought a Pronto and I have sold it 4 weeks later for just those reasons. I realised just how much I use remote controls by touch and despite the Pronto being a clever and versatile device it was not for me!

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one. There are so many Pronto fanatics on this forum, I began to think that I was the only one who didn't like it. I think that most owners don't like to admit that they wasted their money, or are too proud of their Pronto programming to ignore the inconvenience. :)

I have the pronto - but am thinking of getting the Neo - (which bizzarely is cheaper) for just the reasons above - BUT - anyone have any problems with getting it to learn the codes? Does it use the same CCF codes as a normal pronto?

I think the only TiVo button I couldn't get it to learn with was Standby. I don't use the Volume or Mute buttons, but I guess they wouldn't be an issue anyway.quote:

Err... not sure - remotecentral is probably a good place to ask.

Hi,
I've just got the Kameleon - not bad. Have managed to configure it for the TV, XBox (Dvd), Video and Tivo.
I would like to be able to program the red and green buttons (normally used for teletext) to function as thumbs up and down. Is this possible as they do not illuminate in the VCR mode that was copied to the Sat mode for Tivo use? Is ther a way of turning off unused buttons and turning on required ones - Guide would be nice but only appears on Sat and not in the mode I am using for the Tivo.
Advice please.
Thanks
Adrian

There's a new-ish Philips remote for 6 devices for £44 at Argos, much cheaper and the Neo doesn't have agood write up.
The king of buton remotes appears to be the MX-500 http://*******.com/71l6 cheaper than a Pronto.
edit:
Oh and before i forget add me to the I hate the Pronto club, can't stand waking the device with one touch and then having LOOK at it to use it. My "using" lasted about 15 minutes and I never took it out of the box again. Should put it on eBay really.
Posted by: iankb
Maybe us 'Pronto haters' should have been posting about how good they were - before we put them on eBay. I think we've just brought the price down.
Ian.
Posted by: Tenex
I'm sure they're great for anyone who wants complex macro programming but buttons does it for me
BTW, that Philips remote is the SBC RU865 in case anyone's interested.

Does anyone know if there are codes for the Sony Clie handheld to control the TiVo (It's got an uprated IR module over normal Palm devices and is intended to function like a pronto).

Try the MX500 link above.

Anybody know if the Tivo update is now downloadable from the oneforall site for oneforall 6? Or do I have to wait until CS wake up tomorrow?
John
PS: If so, whats it under?

if its available, it will be listed under Thomson VCR.

Well, I've just ordered one. It's the only one that seems to counter all of my objections against the Pronto. i.e. Fully-programmable hard buttons that you can use by feel.
It's a shame that the IRCLONE-MX programming unit isn't available in the UK. At $90, it's bound to be picked up for heavy surcharging by Customs & Excise.

I have just bought a OFA6 URC-7562. Can it be upgraded to work with a Tivo via the web site or only by phoning OneForAll? If it can be upgraded via the web site which options do I choose?
Posted by: cwaring
Indeed it can. The easiest way is to call their Customer Services depatrtment and ask them to upgrade it over the phone. Ask them for code 0722. I have never had any success upgrading via the web site. You could always try it, if you want :)
Posted by: woody
before yo do this, if you use it with a DVD player, then make sure you tell them what DVD you have, as the upgrade will overwrite DVD setup codes. OFA CS told me that they use the same memory.

I have just bought an OFA 6 & rec`d this reply from their CS about using it to control two TiVos independently.
'You might need to change one of the codes for the Tivo with:
VCR 0722
or 1722
or 1723
However, as the necessary software is not in the memory of your One
for All handset, this code can not be set up stright away. It needs to
be
downloaded first.'
Has anybody tried this?
Does it work or do you end up with both TiVos responding together?
Posted by: britcub
Does anyone know whether the Philips SBC RU865 (now £39.99 at Argos) mentioned above has TiVo pre-programmed? It certainly looks like it can *learn* to use TiVo but would be a lot easier if I could just punch in a code...

Rather than punch through, OFA support told me to copy the volume up/down from the other device mode:
1. Hold Magic
2. 994
3. Device key to move function from (e.g. TV)
4. Press key to move (e.g. vol +)
5. Device to move to (e.g VCR/TiVo)
6. Where to put it (e.g. vol +)
7. double red blink shows it worked
