NBC's new "Carrie"

Anybody else watch it? Comments?
Me: I think it was okay...kinda dull & slow (3 hours??), but an okay new version.

I agree overall.
But I found it very distracting that Angela Bettis (Carrie) was so clearly much older than her character (I checked; she's 27, and she looks it), especially when most of the other kids were at least vaguely teenagerish.

I was a little disappointed. I really wanted to see that blonde b***h suffer(can't remember the name - the one that poured the blood) know Carrie was coming for her and worry frantically about it.
And it was a little boring for a King movie.

I only watched the end, but i thought the "carrie unleashed" scenes were really dull, the music was bad, and it was worse than the movie.

I just watched it today. It was alright but nothing special. I have never read the book so I wonder which version is closer to the book. Especially in regards to the fate of Carrie herself

I thought the gym sequence was really akwardly staged and poorly edited. It was much better in the 1970s movie.
The ending is different from the book and the 70s movie, but I'm not going to spoil it. (This ending was a setup for a possible TV series.)
If you haven't read/seen the book or the original film, rent the 70s movie with Sissy Spacec and John Travolta.

Please spoil the ending. Use spoiler tags. I have no intention of watching it, but I was mildly curious as to how they could recreate this movie and keep the same ending.
If you don't know how to use spoiler tags, you just type {spoiler} before the text, and {/spoiler} after. However, use this bracket [ instead of the ones I used.
Or PM me. :)

Good timing, Ann-- I just finished watching this, so it's fresh in my mind:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
It's pretty much the same as the Sissy Spacek version until Carrie gets home from the prom. When she gets home, she goes upstairs and takes a bath. Mom comes in and commands her to repent of her sins (big surprise, huh??), and while she's praying, Mom pushes her under the water and attempts to drown her.
While under the water, Carrie visualises Mom's heart, and we see it contract and stop beating. Mom's dead. Still underwater, Carrie is, too (or so we're led to believe). More blah blah blah with the boring policeman and Sue, and we come to find out that Sue went to Carrie's house right after the drowning incident. Sue revives her using mouth-to-mouth, and Sue hides Carrie out in her closet.
Somehow, they fake Carrie's death, as the next-to-last scene is Sue and Carrie standing in front of Mom's and Carrie's gravestone. They never really explain how they faked the death. Carrie has an absolutely horrendous blonde pageboy wig like Julie Roberts's in the beginning of 'Pretty Woman'. Sue and Carrie decides that Carrie needs to start over somewhere new where nobody knows her; Sue says she can drive Carrie as far as Florida. Last shot is them driving in the car. Fade to black.
Eminently boring.
