Dateline is the most pedantic program I've ever seen. It's written for a 4th grade reading level.

And don't get me started on 48 Hours. It's a 1 hour opinion piece veiled as news. It's also the most conservative journalism type show I've ever seen.

I used to like dateline, but these days they usually have one long boring hour special on something dumb. I miss having 3 news shows or consumer alert type shows like they used to do.

None of these shows are pretending to be hard news. They are all news magazines whether it be 20/20, dateline, or inside edition. Personally my favorite of these is 20/20, especially the Stossel segments.
