I've just started upgrading a Phillips HDR112 14 hour TIVO to a 120gb hard drive using new Hinsdale (MFS Tools 2.0) and a boot floppy.
My C: drive (8.4gb, borrowed-empty except for command com and an empty /dos directory) is jumpered as master, connected as primary master and is seen as hda.
My new upgrade drive (120gb) is jumpered as slave, connected as primary slave, and is seen as hdb.
My original TIVO drive (13.7gb) is jumpered as master, connected as secondary master, and is seen as hdc.
Using Step 7, Option #1: Backing up a single drive TIVO, I inserted the MFS Tools 2.0 Boot Disk and got to the # prompt. I paged up and saw that all drives were seen as the correct size. I then input:
mkdir /mnt/dos
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/dos
Now I'm back to the # prompt so I input:
mfsbackup -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc
and I get
mfsbackup: not found
Can someone help me out here and tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thank you in advance.

I would guess you spelled mfsbackup incorrectly. Your command line as typed is correct. You can also do mfstool backup instead of mfsbackup, although that shouldn't be necessary.

I'm starting to think it's a jumper problem. The original TIVO drive is a Quantum Fireball CX. That one could be wrong and I can't figure out how to jumper it correctlly from the jumper drawing on the drive. Can someone tell me how to jumper it to master. The "C:" drive looks correct because I was able to format it. The upgrade drive is a Maxtor 6Y120L0 I believe and I think it's OK going by the picture on the drive. Thank you.

I typed mfsbackup too many times for it to be mispelled. I think not found points to an incorrect jumper on the original TIVO drive but I'm not sure. Thanks for the help.

OK, it's backing up the original TIVO drive now. Somehow the boot floppy was Dylan's. I don't know how that happened since I thought I had clicked on the Boot Floppy link straight out of Hinsdale. Obviously not. I guess the clue should have been having to login with Root to get to the # prompt. This time the Boot Floppy went right to the # prompt. Wish me luck. I'll probably still need you guys. Thank you.

OK, so I'm an idiot. I finally made it to TIVOLAND. Got an original "A" drive sitting on a shelf. Got an image on cd-r. Got a fully operational 144 hour TIVO. Thanks everyone for the help in the last few weeks. Boy, am I happy. And relieved.
