Trading Spaces: They Hated It

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Trading Spaces is doing a trio of episodes tomorrow night where the homeowners were decidedly not pleased with the makeovers. But they don't show up under your Season Pass, titled instead "Trading Spaces: They Hated It".

Angry homeowners are, of course, all the fun of TS, and you wouldn't want to miss the famous crying-about-my-fireplace episode if you haven't seen it. They air from 8-11 tomorrow, repeated from 12-3. (The fireplace is at 9!)

Thanks for the info, coldtoes. I watch many of these makeover shows on HGTV and A&E, and am always annoyed at the obviously phony, breathless enthusiasm shown by participants when they see the changes. Sounds like this time a little honesty crept in.

Bet one of the others is the straw walled living room in Oakland.

According to TVGuide Online the repeat will be from 11-2, not 12-3.

Here is the lineup:

8p/11p Seattle: Dakota Street - Carpenters work on cabinet doors and partition doors.

9p/12a Seattle: 137th Street - Fireplace; updated family-room.

10p/1a Maryland: Village Green - Master-bedroom makeovers.

I loved that one. My favorite line...

Homeowner: My 2 year old is going to be doing this (begins pulling straw off the wall)

Decorator: (looking incredulous) You'll just have to tell them not to do that!

That's what I thought too, but it doesn't seem to be. I think they were basing it on most horrified reactions, rather than most horrible rooms (of which the hay room is most definitely one!) I'd seen the two Seattle episodes: the fireplace facade and one where they build partitions with starbursts on them, but the Maryland episode appears to be one I've never seen. TV Guide mentioned something about an Egyptian-looking room with a gold ceiling.

Thanks for the "heads up" -- almost missed these 3 classics.

I missed the first one, unfortunately. When I first saw the ads for this block of shows, it wasn't even in the lineup. Then when I checked later, I missed them because of the name change (grr!).

The most amazing thing about the last one (Egyptian/Asian room) was that it wasn't Doug! I mean, Doug was even in that one, but he wasn't the one who provoked the hatred. Instead, it was one of the designers who usually has a clue about these things. Of course, I think that the couple involved was so conservative that they really had no business being on TS to begin with, but still. . .
