Local Affiliate Crams In a Dr. Phil Promo

I was watching a copy of the "The Late Show with David Letterman" show # 1897 which aired here in Dallas, Texas on KTVT channel 11 Friday, November 1, 2002 when I noticed some strange editing right before the "Will It Float" segment.
Right after the Grubman skit, the show was interrupted by a promo for the Dr. Phil Show on your station followed by a couple of local political ads. Then, "The Late Show" resumed with the "Will It Float" segment. The customary lead-out or lead-in music, applause and even Dave's commentary to the effect of either "We'll be right back after these messages." and "Welcome back to the show." was missing.
Looks like KTVT inserted extra minutes of advertising in the middle of "The Late Show" and I wonder if they had CBS' and the production company's permission.
It seems quite ironic that as much as Dave is dissing Dr. Phil, someone in KTVT's promotions department would think that an ad abruptly crammed in the middle of the tape would sit well with Dave's fans here in the D/FW area.

I'm almost positive that was completely unintentional, caused by someone in KTVT Master Control pressing a button at the wrong time. The only late-night show I watch regularly is Conan O'Brien, and in nine years, I've watched the show regularly on NBC affiliates in four different major markets (Tampa, Chicago, Pittsburgh, L.A.). Each one of them has screwed up like this at least once, playing a commercial or an entire commercial break at the wrong time.
