Andromeda 3x6 and Iraq

Did anyone else think that this episode of Andromeda - Slipfighter, The Dogs of War somewhat parallels current affairs with regards to Iraq? Rogue planet is developing weapons of mass destruction, so our hero goes it alone to take them out.

Somewhat?!?
This is the kind of heavy-handed, over-simplifying crap that helped sour me on Star Trek all those years ago. And this is the episode that finally convinced me that under the new management, Andromeda is and always will be a worthless pile of fecal matter.

Yup. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Hmm. Funny. I haven't seen this episode, but I had just started to think that Andromeda had finally recovered from the drek that was the first two episodes of the season, and had almost returned to the form that was the first season.
I have the episode TiVoed, however, so I'll have to go back and watch it and see if it's gotten worse again.

Yep, pretty obvious. Although it seemed to be making the case for the original Iraq war more than anything else (take out the weapons, don't try to 'fix' the regime, etc.).
Anyway, did anyone else think that Tyr was just a little too insecure? I kept hoping for an explanation, but never got one. Unless it's some sort of personality change to go along with his loss of bone-blades...

Tyr was a wuss this episode and I can't understand why the writers need to do this to him. At least it was Becca who bombed the plant and not Hercules, I mean Dylan.
The first three episodes were absolute stinkers that make Enterprise look like Shakespeare. The following two were back up there making me think that this show could be salvaged but this one was just bad. Thank you Kevin Sorbo for dumbing the show down...

What happened to tyr's arm-spike things anyway?

at the end of Season 2, Tyr and Becca vanished into the dimensional tunnel that the Species 8472/Predator hybrids, I mean unnamed aliens were using to invade the Commonwealth, while blowing it up.
Season 3 opened with Dylan & co. trying to find them.
After searching for them for a while, Becca and Tyr suddenly just reappeared on the bridge of Andromeda as though nothing had happened. When Tyr reappeared, his bone blades were missing. No answers have been given as to why this happened.
Reportedly, Keith Hamilton Cobb had been lobbying for the character to loose them as he found them annoying, but even he was dissatisfied with how they were "lost".

This was by far, the worst episode ever of Andromeda.
1. Sound effects of slip fighters in space: Indy 500! Love that Doppler effect on combustion engine sounds in space!
2. Tyr's getting stuck in a "spin" in their practice runs In SPACE! It is a very simple effort to change whatever spin you have relative to other objects in space, and unless you are actually accelerating, you shouldn't feel a thing no matter what your spin is relative to other objects.
3. Tyr jettisons from his fighter about 4 minutes before Dylan and Trance. They are flying it appears several hundreds of miles per hour. Dylan and Trance at best should have been 30 miles away from Tyr, and yet they find him in 5 minutes.
4. The "That's what we do" line! Ugh. They run around futilely stopping the development of star busters? Give me a break! That's not what they do!
5. If they could get their slip-fighters so nicely through the orbital defense system, why not blow-up a portion of the orbital defense system so Andromeda can waltz up and nail the plant from space?
And don't get me started on the Tyr sub-plot!

I'll give you 1-4, but point 5 is stretching it. Its perfectly believable that the slipfighters could have the ability to sneak past something that they coudn't destroy and that could swat them like flies if they were noticed.
At one point I think it was mentioned that each of those orbital defense stations were the size of moons. If we assume that the designers of the stations didn't graduation from the "Star Wars Empire's Shcool of flawed battlestation design" (tm) then there wouldn't be a single point where a small fighter could blow up a huge station. [Even if there was such a point since Andromeda didn't have plans of the stations the fighters would have had to used active sensor to try to locate it, and become visable to the station]
If the fighters were seen I'd imagine that a station that could blow away andromeda would have no problem flattening a few slip fighters. Even if the stations couldn't the planets fighters could come up and play, and without the planets surface to hide against and limit the fight the outnumbered slip fighters should quickly be driven off or destroyed.
