Boston Public - It's still not cancelled?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Okay, so i accidentally took a look at this week's episode.

The story seems to center on the high school seniors having set up a room to have sex. And then there's a student trial where they are justifying it.

Ignoring the morality issues, I'm confused as to why the adminstrators are even having moral dilemmas here. Or why they're even endulging the students.

This is not hard-hitting. This is stupid.

To each his own. I have been watching Boston Public since the beginning and thought tonight's episode was one of the best I've seen! I realize it is probably not realistic, but I don't care....it's a TV show that's meant to be entertaining. The reason the administrators had the mock trial was because supposedly over 100 students took part in the sex room and they didn't want to punish them all. They wanted the students to seriously weigh the issues themselves and come to their own conclusions about what is right and wrong.

I was waiting for quite some time to see the principal have a fit, and tonight I wasn't disappointed. Oh wait, is that a spoiler? Nah... :)

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
And a little fistfight, and some wrestling to go with...

Tonight's episode was definitely one of the best. Brings me back to Boston Public's glory days.

Great plot, funny sidelines and even better flaring tempers. We get to see the lows with Harry and the extreme anger with Steven.

I'm just absolutely bored with the show. While I was watching it, I kept debating with myself whether or not to delete my SP, and finally decided I would, but I was going to go ahead and finish out the episode just to see what the jury decided. By the time it finished, I didn't care, but forgot to delete the SP. I guess I'll do it tomorrow or Wednesday, whenever I get around to watching something on that TiVo again.

I was actually hoping that the principal would fire those 2 (or even 3 if you count Harry) teachers, and then have a heart attack after they left his office, and that then it'd be revealed that this was actually the last episode of the series. That should give you some idea of how much daydreaming I was doing while watching this episode.

But hey, at least there was no singing! That right there is enough to make it one of the best episodes ever! :D

Boston Public is one of the better shows that are out there. My TiVo surely records it while I'm at work!!!

Boston Public is great. I love the stuff with Marilyn and Hanson.

They need to either straighten Harry up or get rid of him. Marilyn has the emotional instability market cornered. Harry has always been a brooding character but it has gotten ridiculous. I cringe when I have to watch him now.

This was the best episode so far this season, but that doesn't say a lot. I'm not liking the new teachers at all and most of the students are more over the top and out of bounds than they have been in the past, IMO.

Two things I really hated from this episode were the James Bond set-up in the sex room (this is a bunch of kids in an urban high school, right?) and the Price is Right price wheel style faculty selector Guber used on his computer.

For some reason, David E. Kelly thinks that all matters, no matter what, should be solved with some sort of trial. Even on his shows that aren't supposed to be about legal issues, he has to bring it back to that.

What happened to Lauren Davis? A hot teacher disappears and no one cares? :)

Posted by: ybrew

I miss Lauren too.

Was anyone else disappointed when Harry was still alive? I was expecting Bug-eye lady (ugh) to go back to his apartment and find he committed suicide.

Harvey was the wrong one to be the judge. That was pure silly.

But my wife & I cracked up when we saw the fight with Marla & Hansen. That scene gets three thumbs way up!

We're still enjoying the show, thank you, so it can't be cancelled yet.

I wondered too about her - last I remember she was in some romantic clutch with Guber at the end of last season. Was there some explanation on the show about her that we missed?

Ditto for Harper's secretary Louisa - this year she's replaced with a student intern. Milton Buttle has also disappeared, but I'm not sure how long he's been gone.

She got the boot so they could bring in one of the NKOTB.

I really like the show, but whats up with Harry Senate's hair? That dude really needs a haircut.

Yeah, but was there any reason for her leaving written into the show? And they didn't replace her with a new female, but seemingly two new male teachers (the too-cute model looking types - same look that he was pushing on the last season or two of Aly McBeal.)

Edit: OK, gotcha, I thought you were just using the acronym, not that one of them was really on the show (which I don't watch). Still seems odd to cut out one female character and add two new males. Makes the cast a little lopsided.

You said it yourself. She was in a romantic clutch with Guber! No wonder she got the he** out of there! :)

Maybe he cut off her hand and is keeping her chained in his basement. ;)

I hope David E. Kelley doesn't read this forum looking for ideas!

this show sucks, every week is a huge crisis and its nothing like high school, most of the teachers i had were around 50 and the wildest thing they did was watch nova.. stupid show.

This isn't reality tv. If you're looking for that, watch survivor.

But to the point, you don't really believe that, do you?

Posted by: holee

Well I think you can have perfectly good shows that depict high school in a realistic but entertaining way. I miss Freaks and Geeks.

Perhaps a large inner city HS may have been different from your experience?

Why do you tag yourself senior citizen if your Bday is 1982?

Posted by: zaknafein

I'm losing interest. Maybe not so much due to the unbelievable scenerios (the show has been that way from the beginning) but more just because every episode is the same!. Harry has some huge moral quandary and decides to do things his own way, and consequently has to act dark and tortured because of it. Hanson does something to make the black teachers mad, Guber does something heavy-handed but well-meaning, and Harper scolds them, yet looks the other way.

Can't they think up something new?
