D-Link DI-614+ Router - How do I assign a static IP?

Hi all,
I tried searching through the threads for the answer to my question, but I could not find it, so here I am.
I have the D-Link DI-614+ Router and a Series 2 Sony SVR-3000. I also have a Belkin USB Ethernet adapter and I have succesfully connected with it. However, . . . I have to periodically power down the Tivo and bring it back in order to do my updates via the USB adapter.
I believe the reason I have to do this is because the DHCP lease with my router expires and that is the only way I know of to get the Tivo to renew the lease.
I have extended the lease on the router to 1 week (the maximum), but I would like to find a more permanent solution. As far as I can tell, there is no way to assign a permanent IP address to the Tivo using the router's options.
Does anyone know what I can do?
Thanks,
Ben

Update your router's firmware? Buy a new router?
Seriously - I have a cheapy SMC 7004 ABR that has that feature (it's under DHCP Address Mapping), and I've seen several others have it. Basically, you either enter in the MAC address of the device and the IP you want to assign it, or you pick it from the list of connected devices...
Edit: Forgot to mention - by doing this, you tell the DHCP server to always assign the device with that MAC address a specific IP. As in a static IP via DHCP.

Worf,
Thanks for your quick reply. I had no idea that might be one of the features I would need back when I got the router. . . .
Is there nothing I can do with this router?
Since I did already pay for this one (and it is wireless), what is the cheapest option for me?
Can I purchase a cheap wired router and still use my wireless one?
Which one should I get?
Thanks in advance for all replies!

You may be able to change the way you use DHCP. If you are willing to have all your other machines have a static IP, you can fake a static IP on the Tivo.
Tell your router to only allow a single DHCP client at, say, 192.168.1.102. Assign all of your PC devices to 192.168.1.50+. Assign the router 192.168.1.1.
Assign the longest lease time allowable under your DHCP. Since you have only 1 allowable client address/client, the Tivo will continue to renew at 192.168.1.102. Again, the Tivo should renew its lease at the same IP.
Hope this helps.

Look under MAC Adress Control.
