I was wondering if anyone has information about how to create a grounding plug to attach the alligator clip on my grounding wrist strap ?? Is such a thing sold at Radio Shack ?? If not, do you know how to make a homemade one ??

Ideal makes a really cool gadget that combines a banana plug socket with one of those AC outlet testers. It's cool because it checks the outlet to make sure there's a safe ground, so that you don't go plugging yourself into a live circuit by mistake. I have one but one of the lights burned out so now I'm thinking of getting another one.

The only place I've seen them for sale is
Contact East.

This one made by Desco is overkill but will do the job too.

Alternatively you could just loosen the center screw of a nearby AC outlet, and screw in a spade lug with a bit of wire crimped onto it, then attach your alligator clip to that. I think that's supposed to be earth ground but maybe someone who knows more about house wiring could comment.
