tivoflash doesn't work with SAT-T60

Now that I have both my computer AND TiVo disabled with hard-drives all disconected ... isn't it nice that the first command in my TurboNet Software Installation doesn't work. Swell.

The command is a complicated one "/tivoflash/install".

What the creator of this document forgot to include was that the tivoflash program will ask you to specify a drive (hdb, etc...).

Anyway, this wonderful program say's:

quote:
I cannot determine your active root

quote:
The value I get is '?Y"

quote:
Cannot continue.

Pretty cool huh? The best part is that searching this forum for any of those keywords came up lame.

Anyone have anmy clue as to what's going on? Am I the first person EVER to install TurboNet on a SAT-T60?

Turns out the TiVo A drive was the "slaved" drive.

Someone should modify the installation document to help us identify which drive is which. Wouldn't you assume that the A drive would be the master?

Of course, since I 've had problem with each and every step of these installation instructions, I'll start a new topic for the next one.

Looking forward to next week's reply.

You're new here, aren't you? Try reading some of the FAQ's and Hinsdale's How To's and then work on an attitude adjustment while you're at it. I've read two of your posts so far and both have been nothing but negative. Lighten up and try to do a little research before you blame everone else for your own shortcomings. You'd be amazed at how much help you'd receive if you just tried asking nicely.

Like I said in his other thread OE.

jaja lose the attitude, you obviously are not well equipped to tackle what you are trying so if you need you're hand held, you're going about it in the wrong way.

You did say you did a lot of reading but you might want to do some more until you thoroughly understand what you are trying to do.

I followed the same instructions you are using and my T60's are on my network.

Of course I'm in over my head. Weren't you the first time you ripped open your TiVo?

You have to understand that sending this in for servie is not an option. I'd be unable to watch TV for more than a week while I waited for my TiVo to come back. I thought with some careful planning, installing a TurboNet would be alot easier than getting out my solder gun to fix the modem.

I've been reading up on this stuff for months. Sent many emails asking for specific instructions for installing TurboNet on a SAT-T60 with v 2.5. I thought I had everything lined up.

Don't confuse temporary frustration with a permanent attitude.

I'll repeat this whole procedure in the morning. In the meantime, do you know of a way of determining (a) if the prom flash was successful and (b) if the Turbonet was installed?

Let's continue this in your other thread instead of bouncing between two since it is the same issue.

I wondering from the get go if the prom flash was done and if it worked. You have stated it was done so now I wonder if it worked. If the prom flash and the nic_install were both successful (forget about the NIC for now) you should have backdoors enabled. Go to the System Information screen and see if the very first line there says Backdoors: Enabled
