Hard Drive W/ Win2K

I know that there are some issues using Win2K to run the upgrades...it puts some signature on the hard drive but is there anyway to use a hardrive that has Win2K loaded on it at all? I mean can I just reformat it in Win98 and then use it for an upgrade?

Thanks,
Dan

No need to do anything - Mfstool will over-write any left over data on hard drive.

The issue isn't so much the signature as where it writes the signature. Windows writes it over specific data the TiVo looks for on an existing and active drive.

If you mean using a drive that has Win2k as a new drive for your TiVo, no worries. All the upgrade utilties use some form of linux boot disk, so your version of Windows is mostly irrelevant as long as you don't boot into Win2k/XP with the TiVo drives in the computer.
