Upgrading TiVo and swap file problem question
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a Sony SVR-2000 (30hr standalone) TiVo, and want to upgrade it. It's never been upgraded before. It's running OS ver. 3.x. It's supposed to be a single drive machine, and I wanted to add a B drive. I was orginally planning on adding a 120GB drive, but after reading about the swap file problems, I'm not sure if that's a good idea.
I've read much of the long thread on the swap problem, and have come away somewhat confused. I'm not a Linux guru (although I do use it a little), so some of the discussion was over me head.
My question is this: I have a TiVo with a single, 30GB HD. If I keep it, and add a second, 120GB HD (taking the total to 150GB), is there a reasonably simple procedure that will let me add the second HD, keep all my recordings intact, and not cause swapfile problems?
Am I just better off adding a 100GB HD, taking the system to 130GB, and not dealing with this issue at all?
Thanks,

You're better off by transferring your current A drive to the 120 and adding the 30GB one back in (if you want). read the section on upgrading to a new large upgrade drive in the hinsdale guide.
