Osbournes are back and good as ever? (spoilers)

Any one else catch last night's installment? The editing on this thing is great. Jaws music when the kid is going to turn the sprinkler on, all sorts of good stuff like that.
I loved Bush talking about who was in attendence, and Ozzie is here!
This must be a slightly over the hill gang type of show, cause I love it :)

They are just so bizarre. In the special before this new series started it was revealed that all 3 children dropped out of school at about 16. I'm just amazed at the language they all use with each other. All those animals just add into the circus atmosphere. The special showed that another teen boy comes to live with them because his mother died of cancer and I think Jason Dill is coming back for another extended stay.

I love this show. I can't help it.

We love it.
I loved when Sharon said something about everyone being busy now working on different things. We see a shot of Ozzy working, Kelly working, then Jack at the gates spraying people with water.
Awesome editors. :D

Pretty funny: they are being driven through Washington DC, and pass the Washington Monument, and Sharon asks, "what's that"? Ditto when they pass the Lincoln Memorial. How long has she been living in the USA, and she doesn't know these things?

Are you calling me over the hill John? I loved it. It was so great when Jack was having fun spraying people with the sprinklers :).

What was even funnier was that Ozzy replied something like "a fort" when she asked about the Lincoln Memorial! :)

Are you aware of how many born and raised Americans wouldn't know what it is either.

I am just glad that Sharon cut it off after this season. Not because i think it is a bad show(I enjoy it). But she said she does not like what it is doing to her family. For all of her problems, she may have a good head on her shoulders after all.
Posted by: tonyoci
I love the show to.
I am not sure exactly what this means "For all of her problems, she may have a good head on her shoulders after all" . I am not sure I could list all of her problems she seems OK to me given the circumstances.
If I did not know better I would have thought the foreboding "something is going to go wrong speech" was added after some editing.

Add me to ozzy lovers. I even have Sharon Osbourne hair!
Next week her cancer is revealed. This family, for all their faults, is a really heartwarming, loving one. This show is a great combinationn of loving sensitivity and oddball behavior.
For the record, Sharon said she was going to give it up after this, but changed her mind after being reminded of her contractual obligations. She's going to live up to the terms of her contract, at least.

After reading about the months of rough negotiations she put the MTV people through before she signed that contract, I'd be shocked if MTV's lawyers didn't ensure those two seasons were locked up tight. I'm sure it was no fun for her either; I don't think MTV is used to paying much for their content.

Yeah, and people like Jay Leno and Sean Hannity make fun of them on their TV and radio shows, respectively. I have a theory that ignorant people are attracted to TV cameras and radio microphones like moths to the flame, however. I don't think there are as many ignorant Americans as there seem to be; there are too many, to be sure.
I would have expected, however, that someone like Sharon, who is, after all, media-savy, to know things like this. Naturalized Americans don't tend to take these things for granted, either, unlike some native Americans. Perhaps the climate in the recording industry and in Hollywood is not conducive to learning about America, I suppose.

I think my wife summed it up best in describing The Osbourns. It's like looking at a traffic accident. You just can't help it.

I wonder if some of the stuff, such as not knowing what the Washington Monument was, is simply them playing for the camera's. I cannot believe that Sharon has never been to Washington as a tourist since she grew up with some money and then married Ozzy who has played in the DC area a number of times.

The Osbournes are great. Something is *very* odd about Jack. Watching him play some first person shooter wearign a gas mask and army helmet was bizzare. Then, he fights with his sister over his "spritz" and messing up his Prada jacket. Too funny. But it was nice to seem him get excited for his sister's live MTV performance.
Posted by: tonyoci
I don't think Jack is that different to a lot of 14-18 year olds. Add in the rather strange upbringing and parents and it all makes sense.
My cousin and his friends (all around 16) get together for Lan parties all dressed in Army fatigues and they shoot water at each other with water guns while doing it and they have a , relatively, normal Dad.

Of course you can... delete the SP like I did. :) If I want to hear language like that, I'll go talk to my friends. ;)
So when are they gonna have the Osbournes/Anna Nicole Smith All-Star Christmas Spectacular? :) :) Two train wrecks are always better than one.

The difference between the Osbournes and ANS is that, dysfunctional though they may be, they are a strong family unit, and Ozzy and Sharon love those kids and each other very much, and the kids, though they argue, love them back. Contrast with ANS, whose only priority is herself.

And I was offended that the MTV censors decided to bleep the word "gayest" when Kelly said "That's the gayest thing you've ever said." Huh? Why does that deserve a beep? The gay people I know would agree that what Jack said was very gay-sounding.
Last night's (cancer) episode was awesome. Not in the typical Osbournes fashion, but rather in its humanity. Very powerful.

I watch the Anna Nicole Smith show for just the same reasons so many people watch the Osbournes. I can't help myself......I need help :D

It's a heart monitor, Ozzie.
It's a a a a stop watch.
No Ozzie, it's a heart monitor you wear on your wrist.
Yeah, it's a a a a a stop watch.

The watch/monitor thing and the "radio on" thing were just hysterical. Classic Ozzie. Leave it to him to get into an argument with a car. :D

Classic Ozzy moments. Can't get enough of those!

Radio On Radio Off Radio On.........................:D

Did anyone have trouble recording the episode on Tuesday night? All of the upcoming new episodes are not in my ToDo list, so I had to force it to record a repeat on Saturday. For some reason, TiVo thinks they are all repeats.
Posted by: JohnJr
I don't think I had any trouble. I have the same SP for the Osbournes as I started with. I keep it real low in my priority list just because they air it so many times. I honestly have no idea when it will record the show. I just end up with the show, week after week.

The editors on this show are great. I just wish they would subtitle Ozzie.
Posted by: laria
Did anyone else think that last season ended kind of abruptly? It seemed like one week it was on and then all of a sudden it wasn't recording anymore. Maybe my Tivo messed up and didn't record them all or something...
Edit: Harumph. Looking at the episode guide at TV Tome, my Tivo never picked up the last 3 episodes. The last one I saw was the wedding.
Edit #2: Ok, apparantly it is season 2 still. :) I haven't watched the 3 that have recorded yet, and now that I look closer at TV Tome's episode guide, the air dates for the last 3 that I thought didn't get recorded are the 3 on my Tivo. Oops!

I don't know what happened, but mine did seem to abruptly end also, but I chalk that up to some strange programming times or guide data from MTV. I'm getting the episodes back again now, but if I missed them then it wouldn't be a big deal.
And the Radio On, Radio Off thing was hilarious!

No problem with the SP here, although mine's a manual time/channel record.
A few things come to mind with the Osbournes:
For starters, how many other families can claim that their kids actually sit down with them and eat dinner together? Sure, they're non-traditional in every sense of the word, but somehow, in some unusual way...it works....and good for them.
Of COURSE they're not "normal"....most "normal" folks don't live in a mansion tucked away in the hills. All things considered, they seem as ordinary as possible, given their enormous wealth and celebrity status....and while I certainly don't advocate dropping out of school at 16, the more I examine the issue of education in America these days, the more I begin to realize that at some point, the kid has to WANT to learn, has to WANT to be there....and that we as parents and educators, need to assess whether or not the child has the academic wherewithall to continue onto an institution of higher learning or whether that child should begin vocational training at a craft that they have an interest or natural aptitude in. Rather than "force feed" school curriculum (and in the process, wasting precious federal dollars) on individuals who would be better served doing something ELSE, the Osbourne kids are doing their own thing....Jack's running his own promotions company and Kelly's in the music business...I say, not too shabby!!!
What is truly pathetic though, is to watch Ozzy stumble around the house, mumbling unintelligible sounds to himself. It's sad, actually. The fact that he couldn't articulate clearly enough to turn on that radio was at first hilarious (due largely to the ensuing reaction) but a bit disturbing after a while...I mean, god forbid anything happened to Sharon...what would become of Ozzy, the near invalid??

I'll bet he's happy he had the foresight to have children.
Jack: "It's your turn to change Ozzy's diaper."
Kelly: "No! It's your turn!"
Jack: "%^#$$#(*^, **&*()*^&%$%$, it's your &%&%^%)*&*^%, turn!
Kelly: "%^&$%^$%^$%!!!! It's your ^&$%$#%$ turn you &^^$%%$% *&^&%^%^%^&!!!!"
etc.
;)

When they show Ozzy it is very incosistent. Sometimes he seems quite with it and sharp and speak quite clearly (given his UK Brummy accent) but other times he shuffles so slowly and mumbles terrible.
My theories are hangovers and perhaps they show him drunk sometimes (that might be when he seems more alive).

i am glad that they are cancelling the show. I really liked it in the begining but after a while it became very repetitive. It seemed like all the episodes were the same. And one more thing is that they annoying beebing sound was way too loud considering the amount of times that it played during any given episode. i would have a headache by the end!

I about died laughing over the "It's the same fish! There's just one bleeping fish!" comments... LOL!
Nice to see Ozzy all worked up about his fishing trip with his son (boys day out.) Made me want to get out there on the high seas (pun intended) and see if I can catch that same fish. ;)

I cancelled my SP a few weeks ago.. the whole show now seemed to be about those bratty spoiled kids.... wasn't too interesting.

The episode with the neighbor's tennis court was pretty funny.

I find a gem or two in every episode it seems. Certainly worth its place as a low priority Season Pass, at least for me. I can't remember them more than a couple of days, however. Too much Ozzy in me! ;)

LOL. Yeah.. A few episodes ago when she was in the store and just ignored him and then hung up on him without saying anything was funny as well.
The thing that sets The Osbournes head and shoulders above the imitators like Anna Nicole Smith, Gary Busey etc... is that the show is real. They are living their lives and doing what they do, and it is interesting.
Other shows resort to contrived and created scenarios to try to make something interesting happen. Never a requirement here. When you watch The Osbournes you get a sense that this is how they behave regardless of the cameras.
The other shows come across as being totally staged and choregraphed.

That was pretty rude but then that family is pretty rude. :)

That and "Did you know I've been trying to take my son fishing for 17 years?"
I thought this one was a great episode. I'll be sad when the Osbournes go away.
