Sopranos 12/1 "Eloise"

I know many people have been impatient with the show this season. I'm hoping that our loyal viewing pays off next week, and that we don't have to wait until next year to get resolution for some of these loose ends.

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)

Who is going to get whacked in the truck? Who is going to crash?

Is the missing money storyline finished with Tony's knowing look a few weeks ago?

Are there no repercussions for Ralphie's disappearance?

Of course, what may happen with Furio? The scene with Furio and Tony behind the helicopter was visceral and intense. My heart was actually pounding a little when it was over! Edie Falco has done a great job with this storyline all season, and this episode is no different.

I really don't know why anyone would have problems w/ this season & I particularly enjoyed tonight's episode, except for the fact that it wasn't in DD5.1! Free weekend, my a** HBO!! Never mind the newbies, take care of your paying customers first!

My favorite scene was when Paulie saw Carmine at the wedding reception. It'll be interesting to see where his relationship w/ Johnny Sac goes from here! I'd hate to the Furio character leave for good, but I hope that's the end of the flirtation. I think Furio saw what he was willing to do for Carmella, and it made him realize it was a no-win situation. Can't say I approve of the methods Paulie's using to become a better "earner". ;) 75min season closer next week & I'm ready!

It really was Edie Falco's episode. She did a great job of letting you know how and what she was feeling.

I'll always be a Soprano's fan, but a few episodes this year were weak. The "Columbus Day" episode (I think was directed by Michael Imperioli) just wasn't up to the David Chase intensity I expect.

Overall, the show still rocks and I'll be there every Sunday night... next year too!

Pretty good episode...though I did expect a little more, considering they now only have 75 minues to wrap-up the season...and all those loose ends.

1. I almost thought Furio would push Tony into the blades... Do you think Tony KNEW Furio's intention?

2. I think Furio is gone for the season. Too bad, I would have liked to see Carmella and Furio hook-up...and then Tony finds out... Oh well.

3. Jonny Sack character has developed nicely, lately. Good tension with Tony. I like the undercurrents with Tony and Carmine.

4. Loved the look on Paulie's face when Carmine did not recognize him :)

5. Paulie whacking an old lady...for a few dollars to stuff into his envelope. Really weakened Paulie's self-imagined important position, coupled with Carmine's reaction. Kind of a funny twist...

6. No more word on Ralphie... Geeze..I thought this would be a MAJOR story line... Tony trying to pin the deed on some one else (Jonny, Paulie??)...

7. No mention of Chris (in Rehab). I would like to see his addiction get the best of him with Tony... Maybe not this season? Though we do see Chris in the teaser for next week...

8. What ever happened to Adrianna and the Fed's? This seemed like such a rich story line...great potential conflicts... Oh well... Maybe next season...

9. Very glad not to see Janice this week. She's had way too much airtime this season and adds ZERO to the story.

So, next week??

I vote Carmine gets WHACKED!!

Oh yeah, I think Carmine is gone.

They sure set it up for Carmine to get whacked, so maybe it won't happen. Could be a red herring. Tony could still pin Ralphie's whacking on Johnny and then use it to whack him. Or Carmine could whack Johnny and Tony gets the blame. Hard to tell what will happen with Paulie. He's stuck in the middle. I thought Christophers rehab would have some undercover feds as "therapists". Obviously Tony wasn't going to get pushed into the blades but I thought maybe he would spin Furio around and behead him. Get AJ some Rolaids or something.

Nice to see Meadow again. Now that she's not around, she's growing up. (You can tell she figured out Carmella's flirtation with Furio in about three minutes.)

Seems to me the best thing for AJ would be military school. Or boarding school. Anywhere away from that house.

"plffplfpffpfpf....meeting over" I think I'll try this at work today...

I don't think Tony will whack Carmine. Maybe he doesn't think Johnny is playing him, but he is. Tony would be stupid because that would only make Johnny Sac more powerful. Possibly a good allie, but definately a more powerful figure.

Paulie was revolting. But I guess when you need to make a payment, you need to make a payment.

The two best episodes were the intervention and Tony vs. Ralphie. Other than that, the season has been more character development.

I think it's Jonny Sac that gets wacked.

During that helicopter scene, I thought they were going to take a page out of ER! :D

The intervention was hilarious. Everything was ok until he insulted his mother. Then it was a beat down.

Paulie Walnuts and the old lady. 'Nuff said. :D

One great thing about this show is you never know what is going to happen next. What is even better, is on the rare chance you do know where it is going, you never know how they are going to get there.

Oh yeah, my vote is Paulie gets whacked. Paulie confronts Johnny about lying to him about Carmine, Johnny confides in a sneaky way that it was Paulie talking out of turn from the joint, and Tony has Paulie iced.

Posted by: VegasVic

Well I know the guy who plays Paulie has some health problems. He was in the hospital earlier this year which is why Paulie wasn't in a couple of episodes and only had brief appearances from jail in others. I don't know how he is now but it could be his character gets whacked because he won't be able to film season 5.

The bad thing about loving movies and TV so much is that you know who has contracts signed for how many seasons and who doesn't...

Posted by: Philosofy

Did Paulie just "run into" Carmine at the wedding, or did he show up uninvited just to talk to Carmine? The subtext of the conversation between Johnny and Tony about Carmine's health was great. Johnny was feeling Tony out about hitting Carmine, and Tony says no, all without saying it at all.

Posted by: jradosh

He may or may not have been invited, but I got the impression that he wouldn't have been there unless Carmine was there. What was he? Third cousin of his wife's brother?

Are you referring to the fact that a whole plateful of scones seemed to disappear in just a matter of seconds when Carmella went to answer the door, and the only person around was AJ.

Posted by: hawkamer

 Is there going to be a "next year" for the Sopranos? I thought I read something to the effect that: 1) David Chase is leaving/moving on; and 2) Major cast members have said that without David Chase, they would not return; therefore 3) This is the end of the road for the show.

I am completely off target, or did something change? Did HBO make Chase an offer he couldn't refuse?

[Edited for typos]

They signed. There'll be one more.

Nope, referring to the fact that AJ let a big one rip when Meadow was in his room.

That is SO little brother. Know of a better way to clear your room of your sister when the conversation has exceeded your interested level?

Where did all the scones go?

Ok I watched this episode last night for the first time. Almost had 2 heart attacks. One was when Furio almost ER'd Tony and the second when I saw the previews for the season finale that said it was 75 minutes long.

Good thing Furio left - too much tension going nowhere
Good thing for TiVo.... It got the whole season finale!

One question though.
Why when there's a big hit does more than one Mobster does the shooting like when they blew away Pussy in Season 1 or the wanna-be mobsters in Season 3 Amour Fou

Cheers,

Paksen
