What happens when old image restored that was not lifetime?

I did a search on this forum and did not find an answer for this..

If you originally started with monthly service on your TiVo, having created a virgin image in the beginning..

fast forward 2 years...
You upgrade your service to Lifetime

Now you want to load that virgin image on a new harddrive, so you do. What happens to your lifetime service? Since you now have your virgin image on a new harddrive that doesn't know about the Lifetime service, on the next call-in, will the new disk 'realize' it is now subbed as lifetime?

I was thinking of divorcing my Tivo drives and replacing the A-drive with the essentially $25 80GB harddrive I got at Best Buy on Black Friday (it was a package deal with 256MB PC133 memory for $50 after rebate.. awesome deal!).

Don't worry; subscriber status is kept on TiVo's servers, not on your TiVo. Your TiVo's status gets updated on every call in for guide data.

Thanks.. It occurred to me I could probably make a new backup on the current A drive, but not sure if it would work since I also have a B drive in the TiVo also.

Jedi - I'm jealous! I went to BB early Friday morning looking for that HD/memory deal, but they were already sold out. The place was an absolute madhouse!

You just need to put both drives in yoru computer and make a backup normally, just adding the second device name to the command.

How early is early? :) I got up at 3:30am, made my way to Best Buy by 4am and was already #47 in line. By 6am when the doors opened, there had to be 600 people on line, wrapping around the building. It was insane. I was quick enough to grab one of those 48X CDRW drives and then immediately went to get a 75GB/256MB combo. As I was walking away I realized the clerk gave me a 80GB drive that was invalid for the rebate combo, so I rushed back and held the drive over my head to grab the clerk's attention. He was like "oops" and gave me one of the last 2 remaining 75GB drives. When I got it home and opened it, there was a note inside about additional capacity for free.. the drive label says 80GB. Even better! Last year I was at the end of the line and didn't get anything good on Black Friday. The secret is to get on line in the early AM, no matter how cold.
