I may be getting a series 2 in the very near future and don't want to lose the programs on my series 1. Is it possible to transfer the programs from my series 1 to my series 2???

In a word, no.

PS-- Well, not easily. You could always set your new TiVo up to manually record your old TiVo's programs, but then you'd lose all of the original guide data information, and the programs would all be re-encoded, leading to a loss of quality. Again, sorry.

It may be possible with MFStools backing up the S1, restoring on a new drive, and replacing the non-MFS partitions from the S1 restore with the S2 partitions, but no one here has a script for it.

Don't forget to get the byteswapping right.
