To Upgrade or not to Upgrade, That is the Question

On Tuesday, I received a refurbished DSR6000 from Philips as a replacement for my dead one. The old unit was behaving badly, so I tried an upgrade that initially went fine, but then the drives wouldn't even spin up. The refurbed unit appears to be working fine, although I won't know for sure until I get the new access card.
I have a new 120 Gb Maxtor 5400 rpm drive with a DSR6000 image on it I created from my old DSR6000 using Hinsdale's procedures. I'm not sure why the first upgrade went awry. I think it was likely either a mother board, power supply, or power cable issue.
Do I take the chance of trashing the refurbed unit? I'd really like 109 hours, but I'm not sure I'm willing to risk my only working DTIVO.

Give the new unit enough time to "burn in" and prove itself as a good one.
Then go for it! As long as you handle the disk and TiVo as the delicate computer equipment it truly is (unplugged and with static safety in mind), you should have no problems.
You are sure the 120gb is okay? Probably the wisest course is to copy fresh from the new unit's A to the 120 just to be safe and certain the 120 is functional in a PC. If that goes well, the rest should be a gimme.
cheers,
kim

I'm not 100% sure is okay. However, I really don't want to handle the new unit's A drive too much. Also it's a pain in the a$$ to open up my PC, and I really don't want to take a chance on fscking IT up, either.
The last time I checked the new drive (using MAXTOR utilities), it found some errors, corrected them, and gave it a "factory recertification" (not sure if this is the exact message). After that, I restored the backup up DSR6000 image.
In theory, I should just have to:
1) take the cover off the new unit.
2) remove the drive(s).
3) put in the new 120 gb drive.
4) put the cover back on.
I think I can feel comfortable just doing this.
