Getting TiVo on Ethernet - adapter help

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: jrappaport

I am about to purchase a TiVo 80Hr with the USB capability. I want to get it on my home network (Unsupported, I know ;-) )

Has anyone used, or does anyone know if the following cables will work:
THese are ethernet to USB adapters for a wireless bridge that I will use.

Microsoft Broadband Networking Ethernet USB Adapter MN-110
Mfr Part #: M53-00001

Linksys EtherFast 10/100 USB 10/100 USB Network Adapter
Mfr Part #: USB100TX

Any other recommendations of parts that you used that you KNOW WORK! Looking for a 10/100.

Thank you

Linksys, yes! Don't worry when the LEDs don't light up, it still works.

Does anyone know if the Linksys compact adapter (either USB 100M or USB200M) that looks like a pack of gum will work?

Thanks.

That's the one I'm using, smagz. Works like a charm.

If anyone still looks for an adapter, here's a cheap one that's comfirmed working:

It did not work on my Series 2 60 hour. I bought the 3com from Ebay and it worked.

I had the 100M, and it was compatible, but it was a piece of junk. The connection between the ethernet cable and the adapter is very poorly designed (it goes in at a 45 degree angle), and I always had to move it around to get it to work. If anything touched it while it was making the call, it would drop the connection. I would suggest trying something else.

Same thoughts on the Linksys 100M...works great, but its hanging on by a thread. I'll just live with it until a wireless alternative is supported!
